Where's the option for "I like both, they each have their good points"?

right heres the definitive opinion on this boring as f**k topic thats been done to death on every RL message board.....

ESL IS MORE ENTERTAINING,faster, more free flowing and less structured..

NRL IS MORE ..........well....... normally i say it's more competitive...but theres some very poor teams in the NRL this year, far more intense but thats because of the way they play ie percentage RL,5 drives & a kick,5 drives & a kick until the other team f**ks up....

hence england coach tony smith saying when england play australia we are going to play our game instead of trying to match the aussies at theirs..

Spud is right. ESL games are IMO a lot more entertaining to watch simply because they are often quicker and less structured. NRL teams prefer to grind the opposition down and force them into errors, which is effective but not particularly pretty RL. Super League teams tend to adopt a more attacking mentality.

NRL for me. Can't stand the friggin SL.

Why? Because the ony reason they are that good is due to the amont of import players they poach every year. Al lthis bull about cutting that down is just talk, there's no action. Yes I'm jealous that's why I refuse to watch it. Never have, never will SL's crap. And until they get their own backyard and use their own bloody players then I may re-consider. Until then. NRL's alaways number 1 to me

Yeah, I hate when teams have to import players from overseas to be competitive. Look at the Warriors for example. Fein, Crockett, Henderson, Witt, Kirk, Price, Tate, McKinnon, Shortland. Shocking!

i find anyone who watches both comps with an open mind will have a similar opinion. I prefer ESL for the same reasons.

Personally i think NRL is much better.
The players are better.
The hits are bigger.
The crowds are bigger.
And overall the competion is much much more entertaining.

SL is definitely less predictable in terms of the way teams try and play their attacking games.

One month of being back in Australia and I'm staggered by how many sets of 5 one-off runs and a kick there are. Big athletes, fit players etc, but gee the game in Australia is missing the touches of genius that used to be evident each and every week - it's been coached out of players now. Personally I'm glad England isn't going down the same route.

Oh, and crowds seem to be becoming more and more equal in terms of numbers attending? I think it won't be long before a round of Superleague pulls a bigger crowd average than a round of NRL...

I'd prefer to watch SL if it were live. But I'd rather watch live NRL than replayed SL. I prefer the SL because it's different to anything I'm used to and Catalans are now my very favourite club in any comp. But for all the talk about SL being more attacking, more entertaining etc, I find that there is rarely anything terribly spectacular in SL games. NRL games might seem more dour for the most part but the odd feat of brilliance you see in the NRL is something SL just doesn't have.

You'll get plenty of chances to see Leeds - they're on Sky for 3 of the next 4 rounds, then not again (currently) until the Challenge Cup semi final on BBC at the end of July.

It is called Engage Super League or Super League Europe. There is no such thing as the English Super League.

I enjoy watching both... in the same way as I also enjoy watching the NSW, Qld, Toyota and Jim Beam Cups. For that matter, I also enjoy watching the highlights of the LER and the Arrive Alive Cup.

It's all Rugby league, each with slightly different cadences and rhythms.

Personally, what I'd hate to see is this forum go down the same path as the NRL forum on RLFans.com... just a place for Oz and Pommie RL fans to cynically put the boot into one another.

I enjoy both aswell but i find the NRL more entertaining to be honest.

Superleague defence is pretty poor, the kicking by halves is terrible and alot of the players are in my opinion unfit.

Both good competitions though.

I like watching the Super league. Trouble is, you almost know who will win it year after year.
