Like how the NRL baulked at the proposed branding in the Western Bears bid?
Lol, yeah exactly like that! Bears fans thought they were back in then VLandys scuppered it.

It's not happening anyway, I think old mate tiktok made the article up.

It would be funny though

I have no such faith with vlandys and ns making decisions for the club.
No reports that NS will be running the club, just the NRL. Can't hurt at all when the league itself is running it and don't want it to fail.

No one in perth cares if NS have a hundred year old history lol.
No one in North Sydney has ever expected anyone in Perth to care. Apathy for the North Sydney history is perfectly fine. It'll mean

Perth doesn’t need Sydney TV viewership. This isn’t a prerequisite for any other expansion team. Those ‘away sydney crowds’ is an issue for the Sydney clubs.
Every new club needs help with TV viewership. It might not be a prerequisite but it's probably been a weakness identified in hindsight after the Titans and Dolphins struggle to generate interest away from home.

It’s been 30 years. We have record crowds and tv viewership. We’ve healed plenty.
Spoken like someone without any dog in the fight. Yes it's been that long but that's nearly 30 years still with no clubs in SA and WA too.

This was posted on an English forum which I had a little giggle at. I don’t think any bid has had more bs made up about it than this one.

“The WA Government’s main concern right now is the security of their investment and the potential for their investment to go up in smoke if for whatever “underperforming” reason the NRL declare, they wish to up sticks and take the licence to another city.
Dont believe the last part but this part could well be one of the hurdles Ive been telling you about that's stalled an agreement being signed. This is what my source had to say on the matter when I expressed my disappointment at Western Bears bid being rejected and it not having WA ownership:

"It will be WA based, WA run and WA member owned. It was a non-negotiable from day one with the Premier." - Nov '24

Having been burnt by the ARU it should come as no surprise that a WA Govt is treading very carefully about how its $400mill+ investment is safeguarded.

Yeh I suspect he read the first paragraph here then made up the second one for the lols

First one makes sense

They could easily have a deal in principle waiting for the mou to be formalised post election

I doubt there’s anything major they still have to argue about at this late stage

Funding has been agreed apparently

And your mate is wrong it won’t be W.A. owned

What’s happens later nobody knows

There’s a lot of rubbish being posted in here during the last few days. Incredible amount of rehashing redundant stuff from over a year ago.

A’las you have been given the roadmap in here already. Nothing has changed in that regard.

Mate, I’ve been saying it will be WA based, operated and owned (well eventually, NRL will technically “own” it to begin with) for months on end.

It isn’t a hurdle at all considering it’s been known information for months. This is not some new revelation and it’s more likely that you haven’t been paying attention to what’s been posted here (blatantly stated multiple times).

The WA government are also now calling out the NRL’s insistence to include the Bears brand in the licence, preferring their own brand, when the Bears as a group are adding very little to the bid.”

lol

We should have two threads on the bears

One where red bear posts updates which nobody can respond too and another for people to complain about things

I can imagine for many trying to keep updated is difficult with this thread

I can’t wait for this toxic bid to be announced and we can move on to nz2 and the tv deal

Keeping up with the twists and turns on this bid are a real punish

I grew up with the nswrl regularly expanding and the game continually growing

The period 95 until today was nothing like growing up when league was untouchable

Im still angry the 95 expansion was sabotaged and where the game would be today

If league wasn’t such a good sport it would be afl first and league and union fighting for the scraps

And on bears stuff I found this beauty

Never said you haven't, I'm just reiterating the WA govts position on it (straight from the source) and their obvious concerns to make it iron clad following the ARU's treatment of the Force after the WA govt pumped lots of money into them. There be plenty of to'ing and fro'ing between the lawyers on that point alone Im sure. Unlikely NRL would want to have high risk forever obligation to Perth, and WA Govt wont want any chance that the license could be moved from Perth. Like I said months ago, plenty of hurdles that needed overcoming.

Yep, the sport is nothing if not resilient! I think AFL would be a clear second by now if News ltd hadnt got its hand on it.
Good signs that we are finally leaving that sht behind now though and future looks awesome. Get Perth and Christchurch in. Make PNG a huge success and sign a massive tv deal away from News ltd and nothing stopping us then.
After that I hope they'll take a global view and look at how England and france, and one day Nth America can come along on that ride. It smells a lot like the late 80's and early 90's for the game to me!

See under the bs you can be a big fan

England would be the next thing to focus on once they have dominated the pacific

Vegas my hopes are it just sells out and makes money and is around for the long term and that will grow league In america

I don’t think a pro us league would be viable in our lifetimes

You're one of the reasons it's a punish peanut!

I'd be glad if Toxic Bear had his own thread where he can big note to himself.

I've been a Rl fan for 45 years lol, I'm just not an apologist and have never been one for wearing rose tinted glasses.
