It’s like you dont understand the cost difference of running clubs in different sports.
But yeh sure, it seems very likely they are breaking the law and submitting false financial accounts every year lol
The clubs a basketcase case financially

Always has been

And the swans last year got their grant increased by 6 million pa so obviously their clubs are struggling financially in Sydney with the resurgence in rugby league

No one is claiming that GWS is a viable club. The accounts clearly show it is haemeraging cash and is being propped up by AFL head office. PR is just saying GWS generates more sponsorship revenue than some Sydney NRL clubs which is shown in their audited accounts lodged with ASIC. If you think they are false as another poster is requesting PR to use a reputable website, then we better alert the authorities as the Directors and the audit firm are potentially committing a criminal offense.

They still attract more sponsorship than Sydney nrl clubs. Which is where you started this little diatribe from.
Dunno those expanses look dodgy

Could be freebies or something weird

Without the govt grants for property purchase the club is technically insolvent with a negative net equity of around 15 million or so

Basketcase

You should know by now how reliable afl headline figures are

They are very misleading on many occasions

If I spent an hour looking at them properIy I could find loads of stuff but it’s on my phone

Afl support that club financially in ways beyond the 26 million grant

And their crowd figures are bs too

My mate gets free corporates all the time he’s begging my to go

Heck he got me a ticket for the swans game yesterday and begged me to go and you know how much I love them I stayed at home

Believe me or not

Afl is failing in nsw and qld

Every year league is growing even in those heartland states

There was a recent giants game on channel seven which got 18k watching it in Sydney

That’s where afl is in nsw

When he accused the AFL of fraud by submitting fake financials, I suggested he report it to ASIC since he hates them so much. Surely the reputation damage from the criminal conviction would be exactly what he wants. Unsurprisingly his actions don't match his words and he ran away from the accusation.

So you have spent an hour last night looking at the financials and found loads of dodgy stuff that have been signd off by an independent audit firm and the directors. As Maximus said, given your hatred of the AFL, this is your chance to report them for fraud to the authorities and you can rejoice with the damage you can do to them. If GWS are doing it then maybe other AFL teams are doing it and you can shut down the whole AFL and the NRL will be able to soak up their sponsorship and TV money.

Tv viewers wise yes.
Crowds they are at NRL Sydney level average.
No pokies.
It way more sponsors than most Sydney clubs.

Yep they can afford to support their growth areas. Doesn’t change what my post was.

You probably thought the AFL should wind up the Swans in 94.
Patience is needed for growth.
GWS averaged 12k in Sydney last year. Way lower than the Sydney NRL average

They have patience to grow their game. They didn’t give up on the Swans or Lions and they are killing it.
Giants and Suns have crowd averages at NRL levels and

They aren’t, they rely way to heavily on pokies.

That’s great, changes nothing with what I’ve said.
The Swans and Lions aren't killing it mate. Have you seen their TV ratings?

The point originally was we don’t grow the game into new areas it dies.

putting clubs in areas already well serviced by clubs will just eat up the juniors and the gap between good clubs and bad will get far more worse than it already is.

Group them individually if you like, GWS averaged less than every Sydney NRL club last year.
That guy is clearly a troll.

But would we judge that a failure? I'm not sure I would.

For example, the Storm are considerable less than the Melbourne clubs, but are a shining light for our game outside the heartland areas.

I would say GWS's larger sponsorship portfolio is ironically due to AFL having a more national footprint, also just them having more friends in higher places than League. Has no correlation with their popularity in Sydney. What's the Waratahs sponsorship revenue? probably dwarfs most NRL clubs and no one gives a f**k about Union.

I wouldn’t mind betting the AFL are slightly disappointed with the Giants’ slow growth in some areas but they certainly won’t be throwing in the towel anytime soon either.

I think the days of the AFL or NRL letting any club die are long behind us unless either comp hits major financial turmoil. Even some people on these forums still go on about the NRL getting rid of the Gold Coast, not going to happen.

Super Rugby & A-League different story.

The A-League will not exist in its current form in 2027, maybe even sooner.

Its pathetic levels lol. NSW RU (which includes warratahs revenue) sponsorship was $3.2 mill in 2023.
