No.

Imagine the uproar in Union ranks if they allowed NRL players to play Union 7's at the Olympics... lol

Still, if they want Australia to win, it is probably the only way...

Leslie Vainikolo and Tevita Vaikona were called up by Tonga for the Commonwealth union 7s in Manchester. They couldn't play though because they had more important games for Bradford - but there is a precedent.

Now that it looks as if Sevens will make the Olympics, do you think the NRL should release players for national Olympic duty, if it doesn't clash with the NRL season?

Surely the players would want to, and league players would pick the game up easily enough.

There will be no RL players unless they sign to RU. The IRB have worked hard to get the games recognised and there is no way in hell the unions would let a committee pick RL players!.

Personally, i think seven's leagues will spring up in the 15 side off season once the government and IRB money starting pouring in. This means a lot of union guys who play league in the off season will be lost to league e.g. National Conference in the UK.

In fact, if there is a fully professional sevens comp then we could really see quite a few NRL/ESL players moving over to union.

I also think this could mean the end of league in Russia.
