I feel safe that it is not us that are the crooks

SIMCORP boss Alex Simpson is defiant his company will not be wound up despite four subcontractors hiring a private firm to start proceedings against him.

TEN local sub-contractors are claiming they are owed thousands of dollars in unpaid work by the builder of a stalled Park Beach high- rise development.
They will meet with their union next week.
The $13 million nine-storey 'Beaches' apartment block built by Gold Coast construction company Simcorp, ground to a halt earlier this year and is now manned around the clock by security guards.

Among local sub-contractors owed money is Hunt and Moore Bricklayers, who is waiting for $42,000 in invoices submitted just before Christmas.
“It’s really rocked us, actually. We’ve had to get more overdraft to keep everything going,” said Peter Hunt, of Hunt and Moore Bricklayers.
“They’ve (Simcorp) just left a dirty taste in my mouth. “They haven’t been honest with us throughout.

THE controversy surrounding builder Simcorp has taken a new twist with the theft of dozens of documents from an office next to the Gold Coast Titans' new training centre at Robina. Police confirmed they are investigating the theft from the office in a demountable building on Stadium Drive.

Statement from Jetstar Gold Coast Titans Managing Director Michael Searle
27/03/2010 3:32:01 PM

Dear Titans Stakeholder,

You may be aware that The Daily Telegraph Newspaper and other media outlets have published various allegations made by Mr Alex Simpson of Simcorp Developments & Constructions Pty Ltd to the effect that the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans and Scott Prince have been involved in salary cap infringements. Those allegations are entirely false.

Mr Simpson and Simcorp have been involved in litigation against the Titans for the past several weeks, and these allegations are merely the latest in a long line of incorrect assertions.

We have opened our books to the NRL and welcome any investigation of this latest complaint, confident that a comprehensive investigation will quickly demonstrate there has been absolutely no breach whatsoever of the salary cap provisions.

In the meantime, we’ll continue in our building dispute with Simcorp. We stand firm that we have paid in full every cent owed to Simcorp (including all payments due to subcontractors) and we are confident that litigation will end successfully for the club in the very near future.

As the court case is still on foot, we are limited as to what we can say about the matter generally. However, we can assure you that the club is very confident of its position moving forward and we fully expect that the truth will be revealed in its entirety in due course.

Yours Sincerely,

Michael Searle
Managing Director
Jetstar Gold Coast Titans
