I’m the same with rugby, there was a time when I camped out all night to get super rugby finals tickets, now I don’t watch a second of it

Used to watch all sports but now as family come along have had to trim back how much I watch, NRL still right up in the top couple on that list, even though I long for the old days at times haha

AFL I used to watch every Saturday afternoon in the late 90s on Prime TV, ok to watch at times but generally a mess of a game

Have cricket on the TV and Warriors on my phone at the same time currently, must have hit an all time low in NZ Sports commentary when I have to hear Scott Stevenson, Katey Martin, Glen Larmer and Honey at the same time, all are absolutely awful
grew up rugby rugby rugby and now i will only watch youtube highlights of super rugby as i cant be bothered sitting through a full 80mins anymore. Will watch a test match if its someone like SA or a Lions tour.
Got into other sports as i got older. Cricket,Golf, tennis, squash, horseracing, NBA, Americas Cup, snooker, F1.

Never had an interest in NFL growing up but got drawn into it about 8 or so years back through a friend. And now I am absolutely hooked by the sheer scope of it, the fact its a year round thing with the season starting in September to the Superbowl in February to Free agency to the Draft to the preseason and culling of players to the start of the season again.
I find it fascinating how teams navigate salary caps, seeing bottom feeder teams rise to the top in the space of a year cause they struck gold in the draft, how its not the same teams winning year after year which is the NRLs weakness.
I like how the presentation of the game can be packaged in different ways. If you are a NFL tribalist (poor Jets fans) you can watch your game every week, or if you subscribe to something called Redzone, you can see 8 games at once where they show all the plays in the 20yard area (red zone) and just see touchdowns or intercepts or pick 6s.
It couples really well with Fantasy football which is hugely popular over there and something i really enjoy.

That Payne Haas try was incredibly soft. Payten might be dropping more players this week.... if he still has a job.

Madden games got me into the NFL a bit, as did sports betting, but last couple of years have pulled back from it a bit for some reason. Used to catch Redzone on ESPN as much as I could but don’t think it’s on there these days. Baseball the same, was following it really closely and betting on it every day but dropped off after getting rid of the TAB account. You’re right in how well the NFL is done, and all their sports are the same, I’m like you are with the NFL following the NBA, it just never stops

These days I’m mainly League, Cricket, Basketball, Darts and Motorsports

Can’t beat a live game of basketball so get to plenty of NZ NBL matches, and value for money for an entertaining night out speedway is fantastic so spend my summers out at a track with my lad most weekends. Disgraceful that Western Springs is being lost after tonight

I won't be around here for tonight's games, as I'm working and then driving over to Manly. I'm aiming to not know the score of our one until I'm over there and relaxing.

Good luck with following the action. It feels like it could be a nerve tingler!
Checking the scores only this morning I slowly swiped left on this site, as it was only showing today's games. I saw '26-16' and knew we were at home so started punching the air.

Then my heart sank.

Payten has mounting pressure on him but, really, few sides would get past Haas in that kind of form.

Haas is an absolute monster, young Ian Robert’s is the only player I can think of that compares.

Sharks better again this year, right in the sharp end of this year I reckon

I can see Cronulla knocking Penrith out in a qualifying final. What I mean is, they're good enough to.

I lived there for 2.5 years in 2013 so yeah, absolutely I get that. I did enjoy the passion, to be honest. I wish NZ had the same passion for rugby, which we think we do but we don't.

I don't like the game, however. Messy as shit. Absolutely unwatchable when it's wet.
I love AFL passion, culture, history. I can talk for hours (mostly listening) to AFL nuts, I have a team, the long-suffering Saints but, I never watch, listen, or follow a second of it! Not even the GF.

Hope you had the grill out tonight.

I mowed the mother-in-law's lawn, huge job, rain-interrupted (I came off like at a cricket match where you've got the bastards beat but the weather might let them get away with it) but she layed on the spread.

After a cold but refreshing swim at Newport Beach, I'm on my fifth beer now. It's great being back on the Northern Beaches.
