Why bacuse the existing contracted players are available until Oct 31

Rather than treating it like a trial game as they today

Yes because rep teams don't need to train together eh? Also all players are available too eh? Also the players from both clubs want to play then eh? Let's play it in near summer heat in Australia or heading into winter freezing weather in the UK to satisfy a minority fo fans with a hard on for what used to happen in the 1980-s and early 1990s. Those days are gone and people just have to get over that it is not going to change as no one from the players, the clubs, nor the respective leagues have any desire for it.
