20 Eels - so proud of my club, and I bet Webb and Walker are rapt as well. As a club with ethics and standards, we are second to none.
Good to see it's still a pissing contest to you.

There are now FIVE NRL clubs all doing it - Parramatta (who you have every right to be proud of).... but also Canterbury, WT, Penrith and Gold Coast.

How utterly original

Good to see you're still a bitter fool and can't even put that aside for such a good cause as this...
You started it you dim simpleton. Claiming I was bagging Melbourne ffs!

So, I have every right to be proud of my club but if I say so it's a pissing competition?

If it's so important to put things aside for such a good cause (as it is), why are you such a stupid hypocritical gimp? It was you that bagged me for praising Parra, Wests, Penrith and YOUR ALLEGED CLUB CANTERBURY for banding together again, as they did last year to support League in their own patch.

Grow up you bitter little tool.

Why isn't every company in Australia giving their employees time off to go help? Surely it is more important than a week at work.... but apparently not.

I'm not so certain that hosting 10 million workers is something that SEQ can cope with right now. There have been volunteer help lines set up, and they have crashed with the weight of support.

The recovery will be going for years. I'd say SEQ will be a great source of work for any of the construction trades, or anyone with a bobcat/backhoe/dozer/excavator. Gotta applaud the transport industry with news of big truck convoys leaving Sydney and Melbourne, and a train load of stuff going up from Adelaide to supply road trains waiting at Tennant Creek.

And no Timmah - I am not bagging them!

How ironic.
Why not get back on topic dickhead, youve been shown up...stop digging a bigger hole for yourself.
Great to see some clubs are looking at the big picture and can put their 2011 premiership campaign into a place thats relative compared to the QLD Crisis

I'm not so sure El Diablo that he is having a shot at RL players.

He does make a rather broad statement that they have misogynistic ways as if its some kind of accepted universal fact. If I was the ME running the paper I'd sure as hell let the copy editor know that he's doing a piss poor job.

I can't see anywhere else in the article where he took the time to label or stereotype any other sport in a similar fashion. Imagine if he had written "AFL players are known for seducing teenage schoolgirls but they can also put their busy hands to good use"

If I was running a paper half those gimps would be unemployed long before this. That said, in his sentence he basically states that while they are often criticised...
.......they are real men to whom we always will turn when the tough job has to be done.

I'd take that as genuine praise. Remember his audience - Adelaide - AFL ground zero, and wouldn't know about the brilliance of RL from a bar of soap. To them it's a sport for neanderthal bogans - so portrayed to make their nuffy sport and small city look more important than it really is.

You shouldn't have to put something down just so you can compliment. It's quite insecure and poor journalism.

As for the copy editor comment, I make that as a general statement regarding the deterioration of newspapers across the country in the last ten years. Journalists are getting sloppy and so are their editors, primarily due to dwindling resources.

Ignoring all that and getting back on topic, I think it's good that Rugby League players are getting involved. I was wondering if some or all of the funds raised from the All Stars game could be shifted as a one-off and perhaps go into the NRL/QRL fund but focusing on Indigienous rugby league grassroots.

Wouldn't it be better going into repairing something, building something or cleaning something? It's hardly the time to segregate generosity on racial lines, because the flood waters never made that discrimination.

nope

but it's getting too common and can only be seen as deliberate

RL players constantly do good and the media never mention it. they only focus on the negatives

Fox Sports did this a few days ago aswell. It's beyond a joke now tbh. Mention every sport that has made a donation except the sport which is most popular in the flood affected area...

It'd be like some Vic bushfire articles not mentioning AFL but getting interviews with Cam Smith, etc instead.
