Stupid regardless. As the commentators said last night there wouldn't be a player in the NRL who didn't have a niggling injury of some sort. It's not like we gained any advantage of having Hindy injured in the warm up. It's not like the Dragons were sitting in the sheds going "ooooh we have to change our game plan now because the very dangerous Brendan Oake is coming into the side"

Is this all compounded by us not fielding Joel and Eric as well though? Hindy makes it 3 players that were named and didn't take the field. The timing for all 3 might have been bad.
What was wrong with Eric?

so was Dan Hunt replaced by an 18th man last week or did the Dragons play with 16 players..

I find it hysterical that the NRL may punnish us for being severely disadvantaged before a ball is kicked....

maybe we should nickname Brendon Oake the shock weapon!!!!...lol

riiight!!..so we lose all our 12 points and be fined a million bucks?? :sarcasm:

my god, this is so ridiculous...

but regardless of whether it was a different situation to Hunt's or not the whole drama is laughable at best..

I can just see the headlines now!!

"eels involved in warm up rort"

the NRL will investigate a potential warm up rort by Parramatta before their clash against Saints where their over the hill and over paid player Nathan Hindmarsh was replaced by gun Brendon Oake only moments before the start of play...

ok so we broke the rules...lol

what's our punishment???

Are you trying to post as many stupid posts as you can in this thread?

It was a different injury - watch the post match conference on foxsports. DA was asked if it was the sternum injury that kept Hindy out and he replied no, it was a chest injury.

If we do cop a penalty, I am sure it will just be a fine.

not according to Hindy - when they interviewed him he seemed to indicate it was the same thing

I think his knee flared up a bit after last weeks game.

i read he was out with a neck injury .... dunno if thats correct - can't trust anything you read - infact i could be bullsh*tting right now for all we know

He was replaced by a player who had played all 80 minutes of Toyota cup. Forget the name but he didn't get off the bench so yes and yes he was replaced and we played with 16.

ok fair enough, so why wouldn't Benny just use an 18th man??

I just find the whole thing being a major storm in a tea cup, we were severely disadvantaged and could be fined 10K because of it..it's just weird.

I actually think the rule is fair enough.

You have to name your final 17 one hour prior.

You just cant allow willy nilly changes 5 minutes before kick off.

If a player is genuinely injured in the warm up, then thats fair enough you can make that change.

However, if you're going to allow someone with a pre existing injury then thats just dodgy.

I remember Bozo pulled this once in the early nineties when playing against us at Kogarah and 5 minutes before kickoff someone was 'injured' and a star player made a remarkable recovery from an injury and made a special guest appearance for the day.
Brian Smith was typically angry at having prepared for defending a lesser player while Bozo said something like: 'it's a silly rule, what if someone slips over on some soap in the shower before the game and hurts themselves'
Not sure why Manly players are in the shower dropping the soap before a game. Maybe they feel it's a better way to warm up than slapping each other in the face?

Fair point. From the Dragons point of veiw, perhaps they thought they were better off using a NYC player who was already at the venue as opposed to do the ring around and try to get someone to get there at the last minute. Makes sense to me. If Bennett didn't want to use him, so be it, but he could have yet chose not to.

This whole thing is being controlled by media and betting demands when it shouldn't. The same way coaches have to name their side on tuesday solely for the purpose that it enables Big League magazine to include the team list for distribution on Thursday.
