NRL to run "dying game" in NZ

Absolutely, even throughout the coach fiasco, IMHO the one huge worrying thing is that simply nothing was changing at the top. And hasn't. It's kinda like an alcohlic situation isn't it- IN other words, for them to address and fix a problem, there has to be an admittance of a problem in the first place.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if there's a bit of lying low, then in a few months the same familiar faces are announced in key roles. Even a Lowe & Boyle combo in there! ;-)

Campbell has been involved in grassroots rugby league since 1954, spent six years as chairman of the Ponsonby club, been a two-time NZRL board member, an Auckland board member and played a key role in establishing the Masters competition for over-35s.

thats your problem right there..

no wonder your game is f**k...wtf are they doing wasting time & money on a over-35's comp...

as for the NRL running the NZRL...it should be allowed and is'nt allowed in every other sport in the world...the NZRL needs to sort it's own shyte out

infact if this was football (soccer) and the NZRL was taken over by another country's governing body or if the NZ government stepped in new zealand would be suspended from international competition by FIFA...

i'd have banned them ages ago ;-)

Thanx but your opinion here is worth about as much as your one eyed views.
Just remember your comp would have died 100 years ago if a team of Kiwis hadn't come over and played you...there would have been no International Comp of any nature, all you were really were a bunch of disgruntled clubs playing each other with no international aspirations for your players...you would have withered on the vine without an International comp. But once a Pommie Whinger allways a pommie whinger, yeah ban us and then all you will have to deal with is OZ...Maybe then you would be happy in your little pile of muck, you are indeed a joke.

yes thanks if it was'nt for the all golds there would be no rugby league.....rotflmao..

as for international competition we owe far more to the french than we do you because the world cup was their idea...

and having to only deal with australia....it would make no difference because you swap your players about that much you might aswell have a joint ANZAC team

look it's not my fault the NZRL can't run itself..thats the joke not me...heres a good one, lets scrap the bartercard cup and start a over-35's comp...fanf**kingtastic idea.

The Masters competition was started many many years ago. Bad reporting has failed to mention that and likewise uniformed have assumed that this is a recent initiative.

I'm not sitting on the fence at all, OB. I've broken my chain and smashed through the fence. I'm free, free to roam the neighbourhood and terrorise post men.

thats fair enough but it does'nt detract from that fact that it appears to everyone else in the rugby league world that the NZRL are wasting time & money on a masters comp but don't have a domestic league..

obviously i don't really want you lot banned i just said that to get a rise out of you :D but something needs to be done

on a serious note if new zealand was in europe they pretty sure would'nt be allowed to join the rugby league european federation (RLEF)

ARTICLE 5
The RLEF is made up of Countries who can be Full Members or Associate Members.

Full Members will be those members who have also qualified to be Members of the International Federation (RLIF). The Full Members will be entitled to a greater proportion of voting rights (see Article 18).

To become an Associate Members of the RLEF each country must fulfil the following minimum criteria:

Implementation of a Constitution and Rules that commit the Governing Body to acting in the best interest of Rugby League throughout the whole of their country

  • Production of an annual financial report
  • Running a League with at least 4 teams
  • Implementation of a junior development programme
Full and Associate Membership will have to be able to maintain the above minimum criteria and a control will be made every two years to ensure.

Spud, in many ways I can't argue in that I was devastated the Bartercard was axed, when it was their own lack of promotion and marketing that put it into the position it was. IMO way way more pushing of the product should have taken place.
However, expecting the NZRL to sort its 'own shyte out' is all well and good, and in another universe I'd agree! But IMHO, I don't think they can, they simply do not have the brains to do it. What will happen is we will have some new 'Mates' voted in, and some familiar names will be under them with the words 'High Performance' before the titles they have, and usually the word director in there somewhere.
In the meantime while they pat each other on the back and tough talk about taking on the Aussies, the game itself hurts more and more because nothing practical is done.

That's just one fans view. And it hurts.

Mate, and this is so far off topic, it really doesn't matter.

What exactly is your system, you user name has always intrigued me.

Rougheyespud, the Masters has been going for a while now, and we had a domestic comp' when it kicked-off. You may ridicule it, but a lot of good people put in a lot of hard work to make it happen. I think you'll find that it wasn't a choice between having a domestic comp or masters. The future of one doesn't depend on the finances of another.

Feel free to have a look.

Lol, that gets a few people! Most people think it means 'My System'...in a nutshell though, my names mike, and my nickname in a past life a few years ago was 'tm'

So basically, Mick is tm. Bit of a letdown really:lol:
