Sure its easy for us the fans to say f*ck the bookmakers - but with the gambling industry providing significant sponsorship dollars I wonder how much influence they will have over the club decisions like this.

Just move to the NFL system where players with injuries are listed on there chances of being available with appropriate penalties for those that play with the system. They can provide them at set times each week like the online system that was suggested. So you name the lineup and also next to there names the chance of them actually playing. So you can still play ducks and drakes with the lineup, but with the extra info showing the likelyhood of playing. At least those gambling on it have better knowledge.

If teams want to rest players that should be their call imo, only concern I would have is you would get some fans feeling ripped off if they went to see a game and a couple of the biggest stars were rested, it could effect the crowds ala orgin time but I dont see it becoming that common, they need the points.
