The best time and situation to have had conferences would have been after The super league war had ended.

You could have had the ARL conference and super league conference both playing under the NRL banner a bit like the AFC and the NFC in the NFL.
Still too confusing to understand who is in which conference and why... then wheres storm and gold coast and soon to be dolphins go? why is one team here or there etc... super league is not something the NRL should ever try to remember or promote either, they need to be their own comp far removed from ARL, Nswrl, brl, qrl or super league

Id have it based on rivalry, crowds and travel:

Conf1
Broncos, Phins, Cowboys, Titans, Warriors, NZ2, Dragons, Sharks, Souths, Roosters,

Conf 2
Panthers, Eels, Bulldogs, Tigers, Pirates, Raiders, Manly, Newcastle, Storm, Adelaide
Hahaha Adelaide!!! Nice one PR

Not really as the explanation would be that team “x” was in the super league conference because they signed on with super league and team “y” was with the ARL conference because they signed up with the ARL.

In an ideal situation you would base conferences on geographical location but RL clubs in Australia is eastern based unless you did a north-south divide.

Yes but the generation now and in future, wouldn't have a fkn clue that there was a one year rival comp in 1997 that had only 7 of the current teams involved..
So comp 1
Bronx, cows, raider, worrya, riff, shark, dog
Comp 2 the rest

That’s why any potential conference system needed to be implemented straight after peace was secured.

But this would have involved huge amounts of money something I’m guessing the game didn’t have due to the war?

Well we have to look at things in a comical way. It’s hard being green sometimes.

Wouldn’t that be great haha. Good luck to your guys too. Your team has been far and away the best team this year so you should win it all.

That’s always a chance. Hopefully Souths smash them in back to back weeks - they do seem to have the wood on them recently so hopefully that continues

Now that's a head scratcher for sure. At least the Sharkies own their own ground and associated facilities.
Being asset rich is worthless if you cannot generate strong revenue from it.

Shark Park is one of the worst grounds in the NRL with terrible facilities. It's right up there with Brookvale and Leichhardt.

Last year the Cowboys collected $8.9m from their sponsors while the Sharks got just $4m. Broncos got $12.7m. The big end of town wants to be associated with large clubs that play out of state of the art stadia.

Adelaide makes sense!

Realistically expansion to Adelaide/Perth/2nd NZ team is years off. The NRL should focus on getting more NRL games played in these locations.
It was a joke, on 2 fronts, coz PR listed his conferences but put in manly twice in the same conference, then changed it to Adelaide..
And 2ndly Adelaide have buckleys chance putting out a competitive side, they would make the titans look like the globetrotters
