Can anyone honestly see things changing over the next few years?
I know it’s different in the men’s game but the price of success is usually having your squad ripped apart but has any other team lost as many top players as we have from the past 2 seasons? Its quite the list…
Meanwhile, the Broncos (who finished MP last year) who already had a stacked roster can easily bring in a Tamika Upton without losing anyone significant.
The Roosters? Which high profile stars have they lost over the past 2 seasons? None…
We will see how popular the product is in a few years time when things remain the same 2 teams continue to dominate and get even stronger…
The list of players we we lost from the 2022 and 2023 back to back squads would probably come close to winning the comp

that’s legitimately a premiership winning team of players who’ve left, 10 girls who’ve played origin and 4 kiwi ferns.
There’s obvious a price to success but it’s evidently not a price the big 2 need to worry about.
The roosters don’t have any of there starting 13 off contract for next year and they’ll also welcome back the worlds best prop from maternity leave, to say that’s a scary proposition is an understatement.
The the NRLW created was they got rid of the marquee player designation and with the salary cap being as low as it is it means there’s not a great financial incentive for players to leave those super teams especially if they go to a mediocre team and then lose their origin jersey, the extra $10,000 they might make going to a mediocre team would be off set by the $15,000 they’d miss out on for making origin.
The NRLW need to find a way to make the competition more even otherwise fans from other teams will just lose all interest especially if they just become organ donors for the big 2. What they need to realise is most of these teams are very new and don’t have the die hard fans that will stick with them through thick and thin, I know myself I follow the girls because they’re a half decent team and it’s a good distraction from our disastrous mens team but if we just become a spare parts factory for the broncos/roosters I’ll lose interest pretty quickly.
