Regardless of Maloney's form, I do not see how anyone could pick him over Keary.

Keary shits on him in every aspect of the game. Let alone his combo with all the Roosters players that will be in the side.

If Keary is fit, he will be among the first names on Fitler's team sheet.

Cant argue too much with that either. Im a big Murray fan and it sounds cliche but he just looks an 'Origin Player' however would probably like to see him tough out another year of first grade. Cody Walkers in rare form but needs to start or nothing imo, he can really only play 1 position (as can the two halves) so not sure how youd use him?
He can play fullback in a pinch. Spent half the season there a few years ago and looked good, but we needed him back in the halves

I’d also say there is some value in an additional attacking options too when the forwards tire

Scott was immense last night and has been pretty good previously, but as he broke his foot, discussing him is irrelevant.

My team at this point:

1. James Tedesco
2. Josh Addo-Carr
3. Latrell Mitchell
4. Tom Trbojevic
5. Nick Cotric
6. Luke Keary
7. Nathan Cleary
13. Jake Trbojevic
12. Boyd Cordner (c)
11. Tyson Frizell
10. David Klemmer
9. Damien Cook
8. Paul Vaughan

14. Cody Walker
15. Matt Prior
16. Reagan Campbell-Gillard
17. Angus Crichton

Keeping the bulk of last year's side, in part because I'm struggling to think of alternatives in a lot of positions. Tedesco, Addo-Carr, Mitchell, Tom T (if fit), Cook, Cordner, Frizell, Jake T, Klemmer, Vaughan are auto-picks. I'd prefer 2 props on the bench rather than a stack of back rowers, so RCG keeps his spot despite average form (and that's being generous), and Prior gets recalled. The only other fit options I'm aware of are Shannon Boyd, Tim Mannah, James Tamou, and Jack Stockwell. I'm quite tempted to recall Aussie Jim over his team mate. Crichton would be my pick of the back rowers to keep his spot, given Sims' indifferent form and JDB's unavailability. Wade Graham is an option if he's fit.

Cleary keeps his spot because of his kicking game and goalkicking and proven clutch ability, and because I don't want yet another completely new halves combo. Keary on form must get the nod of Maloney, who has been shithouse. Cody Walker is in such good form it's almost impossible not to pick him, and if we must have an impact player/utility, he is miles ahead of Peachey on form.

If Tom T is unavailable, then I guess Jesse Ramien would be head of the pack to fill out the 3/4 line. Other options are Peachey (despite mediocre form), various Jennings, James Roberts from the Queensland cup, Best Young Centre:tm:, Euan Aitken, Zac Lomax, Brad Parker, Bronson Xerri, Kotoni Staggs, Josh Mansour (despite abysmal form). Curse Curtis Scott's injury, because he was obviously the best option.

Edit: I forgot old partners in crime and roof drinks Dugan and Ferguson. Hopefully our selectors do too.

Scott blew a try and almost blew another. He was good last night but really it wouldn't have been that hard to look impressive against that Parra outfit.

Can't pick Tom, he'll be really underdone and better to let him ease into it. Plus it will make it more competitive having our best player from last series out.

Surely Jordan McLean should be well ahead of Prior and RCG in the pecking order, I know Cowboys haven't been going that great but he's averaging 142m a game.
Two smokey in terms of props would be Alex Twal, not the most dynamic player but his defence around the ruck is exceptional and Junior Tatola who I think has surpassed both the Burgess twins and is now Souths best prop. Other prop options are the Brisbane trio of Lodge, Haas and TPJ. Haas has been brisbanes best player his year IMO averaging over 160m per game but might be a year too early, TPJ is wildly inconsistent but might be abit of a weapon off the bench in 15-20 min stints.

Haas over Tamou for me.

Tamou was pathetic nearly every game he played for NSW. Can't have that shit again.

The one I don't get is RCG, didn't have much of an impact last year, playing like a busted this year yet seems to be getting pencilled into everyone's team

Thought McLean was a Queenslander for some reason. I hate Lodge more than any Queenslander. Did not know Haas and TPJ were ours.

That quote Gould made about the NSW set up a few years back ... not wanting any of the Panthers players near NSW Origin set up ... has now come full circle.

NSW don't want any Panthers players in its set up.

If he wasn't getting injured and suspended I'd give Fonua Blake a crack.

He's an absolute wrecking ball; only he has an engine too. Gun player with the firey temperament for Origin.

Seems to be flying under the radar.
