NSW CUP no sharks

It goes to show what a short sighted decision it was by the then Cronulla Board five years ago, Tubity and Co to end the deal with Newtown! The team made the preliminary final (one game from the GF) and Newtown supplied players at the time that went on to play first grade, like Phil Leuluai and James Stosic. Newtown also looked after Kevin Kingston and he came back and played first grade with Cronulla.

There was a bond between the clubs with players like, Kevin Hogan, Steve Hansard, Dave Cotter and the great international (the late) Graham Wilson playing for both clubs.

There are also so many Newtown supporters that live in the Shire like myself that support Newtown in the NSW Cup and Cronulla in "the Show".

Oh well you can only live in hope that if the Newtown-Roosters deal ever finishes, Cronulla and Newtown get back together!

They need us to make up the numbers Quigs. To have 3 nice even groups of 4 teams. I expect to be occupying 12th place in this comp. I wouldnt think we would even have enough players at the moment.

Geez it's a shame that Verlinden, Weyman and Barrett have recently signed with Newtown.
I wonder if they had a clause..
