NSW Lacking a long term fullback

No Lachlan Coote?
No Evander Cummins?

Maybe you think there are no long-term prospects because you don't know who they actually are ...

Coote? FMD if he ever gets a Blues jumper we are really scraping the bottom of the fullback barrel.

I'd think Brett Morris would be in with a chance if he keeps playing there for the Goons. He was great on Wed night

Unless he has a freakish improvement in regards to form you are right about Coote. I would like to see Gordon given a shot before he gets too old, though. Here's hoping he returns to form even if he is at the sharks.

You just proved to everyone who reads this forum that you have no f-ing idea about football.

Well done

How you doing Ashley Graham, still got your Darius Boyd voodoo doll?
Hayne is one of the quickest players in the NRL, he's 100kg+ and is a superior vastly superior playmaker to Barba, Inglis and even Slater. Seriously the guy has 23 try assists and 24 line break assists last year playing for Parra, and let's to honest here it's not like he's got superstar to pass the ball to, for him to get a try assist he literally needs to put it on someones chest and they fall over the line.
The only areas where he's inferior to Slater is probably his defence, anticipation and overall energy.

 It just gets worse and worse.

If Hanye is better than Inglis, Barba and Slater, why have we not see that?

Credit is given where it is due, but to say that is just dreaming.

Let me guess, you also rate Benji Marshall highly?

I'm a Hayne fan, but I think you're over stating it a bit. Hayne's "play making" skills were shown up with his move to 5/8. He came up empty.

If Jarrod got himself involved more from fullback (which I consider his best position) and played to his true potential, he would be very good, but never the equal of Slater....and definitely not Inglis

and tbh....it's all a bit early for Barba to be thrown in with these players when discussing greatness....imo. The guy still has a weakness under the high ball and in his defence for mine.

NSW should stop 2nd guessing themselves when it comes to fullback. They've been bouncing round between Stewart, Dugan, Minichello.......Gidley  all for a lost cause. Brett Stewart's series was alright but I don't think he's the answer. I can't shake the feeling he was due for a monumental stuff up at the back for NSW.......we ran out of time.

Hayne in 2009 should have been selected at fullback. He plays his best football for NSW and he plays that type of football best from fullback.

Threads like this wouldn't exist if the misguided idiots in the NSW coaching ranks didn't keep trying to make him into a 5/8.

Hayne is easily better than Barba.

Were you not around in 09?
Benji is completely over rated IMO but Hayne is unfairly maligned because he'll always be judged against his form in 09 which was as dominant as any player I've ever seen.

There's a difference between a 5/8th and a playmaker. As a 5/8th Hayne's running game is largely negated and he's got abit less freedom but in terms of fullbacks who set up tries and line breaks he's in a league of his own (the stats prove that). I also can't understand why he can't be as good as Inglis, if you break down every aspect of their games he compares quite well to Inglis, he's definitely quicker, passing and kicking is superior and whilst he's not as big and strong as captain speedboat he definitely isn't very far behind. The biggest weaknesses Hayne has is that he plays with a reserve grade side week in week out and people expect miracles from him every game because of what he did in 09

Defence is Stewart's strength at fullback. Plus he is exceptional under the high ball. Even in attack you can see the difference in Manly today when he went off.

As was pointed out earlier, the big difference on kick returns is the quality of the kicking game and the chase QLD offered. QLD did the job far better. I'd be changing the halves before the fullback.

Pretty sure Brett Stewart is 27 and not 29 as well. I didn't think he was too bad really, I rate him quite highly.
