NSW Origin side 2010

Hence why I put a question mark after it.

Campese has played solidly for the Raiders and marked himself as one of their 'go to' men, I think he would benefit more in Origin playing in the halves with an experienced player like Kimmorley than feeling pressured to run the show right from the start. Guys like Mullen and Pearce were thrown into the deep end prematurely and TBH I don't know if Pearce is old enough or experienced enough in first grade yet to be taking on such an influential role at Origin level.

If Gidley gets picked as starting fullback I think I'll vomit....

Greg Bird is a solid player and very sound defensively, problem is if we fall behind and are stuck with Kimmorley and Bird in the halves (ala Wallace and Bird in Game 2 in QLD in 2008) we lack the creativity needed to score points.

I would pick:

1. Jarryd HAYNE
2. Brett MORRIS (left wing)
3. Beau SCOTT (right centre) ... to pwn Inglis
4. Josh MORRIS (left centre)
5. Timana TAHU ... we need a big guy who is solid in the air ... not some small bloke.
6. Jamie SOWARD
7. Brett KIMMORLEY
8. Luke DOUGLAS .... @ Godz, when was the last time Civoniceva offloaded in State of Origin??
9. Michael ENNIS
10. Michael WEYMAN
11. Nathan HINDMARSH .... proven performer. Can rely on him to make 50+ tackles.
12. Ben CREAGH
13. Anthony WATMOUGH

14. Greg BIRD / Kurt GIDLEY (Kidley if fit, otherwise Bird as utility)
15. Trent WATERHOUSE / Tom LEAROYD-LAHRS (Waterhouse if fit, both still recovering from injury I believe, TLL back this week)
16. Kade SNOWDEN
17. Josh PERRY / Justin POORE (if he actually hits some form) / Dan HUNT (if he continues to improve this season at his current rate) / Luke BAILEY

We need two actual props on the bench, as we proved playing second rowers like Paul Gallen or Glenn Stewart in the front row was a massive failure.

P.S. Don't think we need Farah on the bench, Ennis is an 80 minute player, and Farah struggled last season in Origin.

Exactly, as much as fans on here would like it, form isn't the most influential factor when deciding a side. It's the qualities of the player and how these qualities will attain victory.

Mind you, it hasn't stopped the NSW selectors from making poor, agenda driven decisions.

My team:

1. Hayne
2. B.Morris
3. J.Morris
4. Jennings or Tahu
5. Lawrence
6. Carney
7. Pearce
8. Galloway
9. Farah
10. Weyman
11. Watmough
12. Creagh
13. O'Donnell

14. Douglas
15. Learoyd-Larhs
16. G Stewart
17. Luke Lewis/Greg Bird

That is the squad I'd pick too, but maybe Ben Hornby as a utility. He's way better than Giddley.

Nothing, but you could ask the same question of those who selected Cooper or Poore.

Did you watch dragons vs cowboys, cooper played a great game. His partnership with morris would be great to see in origin, they attack and defend great next to each other

I think you need to include more Dragons players
Hey, I'd be happy if none were selected :)

But Weyman/Creagh/BMoz all look like certainties ...

Scott is the best defensive centre in the game today, and we need to dull Inglis' effectiveness, not try to beat him at his own game .... there are certainly better players than Scott (e.g. Jennings) but Inglis is better than all of them, so instead of trying to get an attack-minded centre out there, we just need to focus on containing Inglis, and Beau Scott appears the best equipped of all the natural right-sided centres in the NRL at the moment.

Soward is unlikely to be picked because I think Kimmorley will probably get the nod at halfback given he is the incumbent and had a great Game 3 2009, and they won't want to have two small halves. As such, they might go straight for Bird (which would f**k everyhing up) or Campese (which would also be a disaster) or Luke Lewis (see Bird/Campese).

He had a good game, sure, but Bird also played well on the weekend against the Raiders.

He's yet to prove he's the stand out centre for the job.

If it was on this season's form and the end of last year Bryce Gibbs would get a look-in.

Early last year I would have pissed myself laughing at you, but that's probably on the mark, especially when we are considering mediocre players like Josh Perry and Brett White, FFS.

I was the biggest Gibbs basher around, but the back end of last season and the start of this year he has been sensational. Averages 50+ minutes a game, outstanding defender, gets through a sh*tload of dirty work and has been making much more of an impact in attack. He'll never be super damaging in attack (ala Moi Moi), but he's one of the hardest working props in the comp.

Wouldn't consider him just yet for Origin, but I tell you what, our front row stocks are VERY thin and he would certainly be in front of many names in this thread.

You've got Weyman and Galloway who look like certainties at the moment. Douglas and Cross are smokies, but what's after that? Gibbs should be in the next list of names for sure, along with Snowden etc.

And once again I have to say Greg Bird is not a five-eighth. Not creative enough. Knowing that, the dumb f**k selectors will pick him there.

I really don't think Hayne is one of those players who's up to captaining, especially at an origin standard. Captain would probably have to be Farah, or you could start Gallen and name him the (c)

WTF has Bird done this year to deserve a spot at 5/8?

Selectors like his hard hitting running style and his uncompromising defence.

Which are the hallmarks of a lock, which ironically is Birds best position.

You may find that Bird starts at five eighth and they have Soward on the bench. That way, Bird will play the first 20 minutes of each half and then either get benched or will move to lock or the second row and Soward will come in to play the back end of each half when his speed comes to the fore.

Sort of using him as they used Craig Wing to great effect last year, but with a better kicking game.
