Nathan is the best footballer in the world atm, that good infact that a game he missed even showed it
Thats why this game was win/wjneither NSW literally won. Or we saw just how important Nathan is to the team.

Im happy as we saw no one else is close to Nathan at 7.

Martin ripped in and made a difference. Should have got on earlier
He really wanted to hurt them in defence. Great to see.

Not one poor Panther all Origin series. Capewell among the best in the losing side. All NSW boys did great. Although the benchie NSW boys would be interchangeable. Our starting boys were crucial

That was probably the best gridiron team that Queensland has ever fielded. At least 5 forward passes in the first 27 minutes. Stopped watching after that.

I think we had our chances.

The only issue I have is the Blues were awarded a couple of set restarts late in the game which really should or could have been penalties and were well within kicking distance to even the game up.

The game should have been locked up and gone into golden point but the on field ref saw otherwise which was the wrong call on both occasions.

Anyway as it stands Queensland deserved there win we just weren’t good enough at the end of the day.

@franklin2323 see how shit NSW are without a good halfback?

Moses had the exact same team around him as Nathan did to set all sorts of records. Yet without Nathan that exact same team was not even close to being as good.

Nathan for Panthers and NSW has a 100% win rate in 2021 with cricket score averages in attack and soccer scores against him in defence

Take him out and attack shits itself. Defence weakens too as they don't have the best player in the game controlling the game

So QLD didn't play any better in that game?

Absolutely, that is because Nath and Romey weren't there directing the play and distributing the ball along the backline. We smash them again if they play.

Ponga stopped a certain try. Then sets up one.
Hunt scored 2 tries

Both those guys didn't play game 1

Not really. They just got outderped in the halves. Nsw Had 54% possession and our useless halves couldnt do shit with it. Queensland grew with confidence when NSW kept firing nothing at them.

They started Game 2 off better than Game 3. Difference was Nathan just wouldn't give them a chance.

Hunt played Game 2 though and Grant was available in Game 1. Queenslands best plsyer INO. The difference was the player you think makes no difference. NSW had no purpose to their sets. Queensland weren't much better. Nathan is in a league of his own for kicking.

Joey was less than impressed with the structure of the team from their first attacking set. It was trash. Passes weren't hitting the mark. Players weren't running lines. Mitchell and Turbo had no clean ball. Kicking game was awful.

If Cleary was wearing the #7 it would definitely be his fault if we lost. Even if he was our best player... Atleast it was in game 3 last year

Grant that missed 6 weeks before the game. Hunt was on the bench game 2 that is prob their top 17 tonight.

NSW missed their starting front rowers from Origin 1 big time. Ponga was a huge in as was Capewell back in the forwards.

NSW gained more kicking metres tonight then in any other game in the series. Forced 3 dropouts to 1.
Moses is down as 2 try assists. Wighton a try.

I don't think they played well but they weren't why the side lost. especially when the QLD halves weren't much better and are the current Australian halves.

The main issue with the attack was Tedesco. He kept running sideways or hogging it. The last set we had the ball the halves didn't get a touch that is on Cook and the captain Tedesco.

Latrell 3 errors. 5 tackles 3 missed ( one of those led to a try )

Tom Turbo 2 errors. They were the best in the whole series and very poor.

Ponga missed 6 weeks prior to this game aswell. Yet you have him as the reason Queensland won. Not the fact the best halfback in the world was missing. Grant was one of Queensland's best game 1. But Nathan kicked them out of the game.

You're quick to blame Nathan for every loss he's involved in. Give him absolutely no credit at all for the wins he is involved in... And when the teams he was leading to record breaking wins lose without him you are bumbling around for reasons why that dont include Cleary. The goal posts are constantly shifted so Nathan never gets credit.

NSW had 54% possession. Made more metres and missed less tackles. Pretty f**king good chance for a half to step up and win the game. Even a slight amount of game management would have changed the result. Adam Reynolds is not on Nathans level. But he would have won that game for us aswell.

If Nathan had played though the game wouldn't be close. He effortlessly makes the players around him better and makes their jobs easier. Obviously you'll never admit that..since you're now firmly standing behind the opinion a 7 makes minimal difference. But everyone knows the reason NSW lost is because they lose the Panthers halves and as a result every single player on the field became less effective and game management disappeared completely.

Cook and Tedesco played the same way they always do. You didnt have an issue with Cook crippling the attack for Nathan in game 3last year.ibfact you suggested it doesn't matter howshit his hooker was. How bad his forward pack was. How little possession and field position his team had. He should be able to win the game.

Yet with 54% field position, territory advantage and better defence you don't think it's the halves fault this year? Those goal posts certainly do move around alot

That to me doesn’t pass the eye test. NSW had enough front foot ball last night to win it, they just looked much more fluid in the first two games. When the balls were passed from the halves they were better balls giving their outside men the ability to move onto it. Throughout the earlier games the halves were taking on the line (albeit Wighton grew into that role over the course of the game). And while Moses has a big boot he doesn’t have the management skills of Nathan, and so it felt like we weren’t turning the balls over in the right positions.

Most importantly for Origin was defence. The second try that Norman scored after the break Moses just coasts after the ball goes past him. Nathan might not have saved the try, but he would have busted his balls to get there and have a chance to make it. Mitchell also struggled a bit in defence; potentially a bit lazy at times, but he missed the decisiveness of Luai beside him on a number of occasions.

Moses was terrible he did nothing, wouldn’t engage the line before ball playing or just run the ball. Wighton gave away at least two 7 tackle sets. One of the linedropouts was cam Murray. We probably kicked for more metres because Moses just punts it every time, he wasn’t finding grass though.

How much stop start was it though? There is having ball and having good ball

Take line breaks for example usually a quick play the ball or a try follows.

Game 1 NSW 10-1
Game 2 NSW 7-1
Game 3 it was 5-3 Qld way

He didn't run the ball is true but QLD's halves were just as bad. Moses actually had more kick metres then DCE and Munster was poor.
It isn't as though they won the game on the back of a huge effort from their number 7 though.

Which is my point about the number 7 being able to be good without being great and teams still can win

No he played last week for Knights v Cowboys. Well did their 7 get them the win or was it guys in other positions? It goes both ways I don't rate number 7's simple.

Moving the goal posts would be praising DCE for the QLD win. Which I haven't done

I said many times game 3 last year was lost when Teddy went off. Gutho is not an SOO FB. Yeo is not an Origin centre
