Minichiello - 8 read the game very well - must play next game - great selection by Stuart

Hayne - 5 not his fault that he did not get a lot of involvement

Gasnier - 7 not a lot of ball but his defence was great and did a lot of forward work in the last ten mins when our pack was starting to tire

Hopoate - 8 did not look out of place - awesome try!

Uate - 8 really impressing me

Soward - 7 first half poor but second half he grew in confidance

Pearce - 8 great defence from him his pairing with Soward is taking shape they should be our halves for next year

Gallen - 10 perfect game

Ennis - 5 - grub - he is to old to change so maybe this will be his last game

Mannah - 6.5 Solid

Scott- 8 very good, his best game yet for NSW

Creagh - 6.5 Solid

Bird - 6.5 Solid but along with creagh overshadowed by Gallen

Merrin - 6 adaquate with what little we saw

Gidley - 8 the team looked more balanced with him as hooker - hopefully he gets the job for game 3

Watmough - 8 very good - needs more game time

Lewis - 8.5 speed, power, skills, defence - yet still under rated by some

Next game, I would have no hesitation in cutting Merrin for Learoyd-Lahrs, who will contribute infinitely more to the team as a second prop. I will also go out on a limb and consider dropping Creagh for a third prop - maybe bring Snowden back in, as I felt he got a bit of a raw deal being cut from the first Origin. Creagh wasn't overly bad, but I just think Snowden offers that little bit more.

With Jennings being fit for the next game, what happens if Hopoate is fit? Do we drop Gasnier for Jennings? Do we drop Hayne, throw Jennings into the centres and put Hoppa on the wing?

All in all, outstanding performance. Watmough and Gallen (huge workrates), along with Lewis (match-defining moments) and Scott (brutal defense) did a great job, Mannah made some good charges, and Bird was his typically aggressive self. Creagh was alright, Merrin was non-existent. Pearce and Soward stood up and were counted when it mattered.

How anyone can suggest team changes I will never know.
I swear some NSW supporters are never happy...

... Give Merrin a go, he has played a total of 39 out of 160 minutes! His stats for 39 minutes aren't bad.

Watmog was just about to play the ball and Slater pull his leg from under him. If it wasn't that close in Origin, it would have been a penalty to NSW. Ref took the safer option in giving a scrum to QLD.

Minichiello - 8 Solid. Played allot better then I expected was perfectly positioned each time. Good hit to get Slater the grub down after the line-break and sealed the deal with his try. Truly great comeback for the count.

Hayne - 6 Did not see much ball but was solid in defense and looked good paired with Hoppa.

Gasnier - 5.5 Why is here? He's an X-Factor but he's not showing it. Had some good footwork at time and he put Uate in the right space a few times to grab allot of meters. At least Boyd did not tear him a new one this time-round.

Hopoate - 8 Doubted his selection due to age. Proved me wrong was a gun. Grabbed meters and meters looked dangerous all night and damn that try was brilliant. QLD thought they could target him as a defense liability. Proved them wrong.

Uate - 8.5 This guy is made for Origin. His speed is freakish and the looked dangerous. He got us meters when we needed it and is pure SOO Winger material. QLD shit brick's when he grabbed the ball on his two massive runs.

Soward - 7.5 Was ALLOT better this time round. Still needs to take on the line more. Kicking in first half was average. Improved in second half. He missed that penalty though and set-up a try for mini.

Pearce - 8.5 I'd give him a 10 simply for slamming Thaiday twice. Pearce said in article this week he vows to own Origin II well he did easily second/third best on ground. Set up-two tries one off the kick the other to slide Hoppa over. Defense was brilliant and showed great attack this time round. Maybe it's because Mini was there. Who knows.

Gallen - 10 I'd give this guy 50 if I could. Proved why he is captain. No brain explosion, no errors, no penalties just a warhorse that tore down the QLD wall like a machine and left them exposed. Played 80 minutes..man would he be sore today.

Ennis - 5.5 Nothing to say. I always like it when a QLD'er gets hit hard though so he gets a few points.

Mannah - 6.5 Timy Mannahhhh improved greatly this time round. Played well with rotations and confirmed his spot for Game III he will only improve and is a great player.

Scott- 8 f**k me playing with a damaged eardrum for 65minutes. Great tackling and looked good on attack. Absolute machine last night. Tore QLD apart in defense put his body on the line in each tackle.

Creagh - 6.5 One of his better performances. Keep his spot for this series just for a consistent team.

Bird - 6.5 Expected a better game. Was still his aggressive self though and tried his ass off like no tomorrow.

Merrin - 5 Little time on field.

Gidley - 7 Best Origin thus far.

Watmough - 8.5 Deserved his selection. He was great on attack and the go-forward sparked out attack like no-tomorrow.

Lewis - 8.5 Scored within 1minutes of jumping on the field. Was devastating in both attack and defense got some great tackles down to stop QLD tries. Best Origin thus that. Sticky let him play the game he plays at the Panthers and it worked.

Stuart- 8.5 Yes the coach get's a rating. Proved to silence his doubters with his selection and I loved his punching game in the box.

I don't want to rate them all - too much hard work - but just for the props:

Gallen 10 - just kept putting his hand up.
Mannah 7.5 - will need some time to 'grow' into being a prop, but looks like NSW has a "real one" again
Merrin 4.5 - very quiet - I'm not convinced?
King 6 - much improved on game 1. Didn't see him doing anything stupid at all. Did he take more hitups this time around?

Hmmm... Gasnier's copping a pasting in here. He might have been missing in attack (and when he got it, just went sideways)... but his defence has been outstanding IMO. I'd rate him 6.5 or 7 on defence alone tbh.

I've never been a Gallen supporter or admirer. I always thought he was a liability because he would take the thug element too far. He was a 70's player in the 00's. He was easily the most outstanding player on the field.

Its fair to say, that I thought Ricky Stuart was a great player but an absolutely crap coach. But, to give him his due, he developed a game plan and picked players to play it and more impressively, he got players to execute that plan...perfectly. I can't believe how well the go forward was shut down and how the lateral movement from the Qld halves was nullified.

I still don't like the guy as a coach, but Ricky Stuart must get a pretty high rating of 9.8 I reckon.

I think it's been said that Ricky can be a pretty smart coach but terrible at man-management and developing players. He can get the best out of his players in a short space of time no matter how stupid his comments to the media can be

I can only imagine it was a play on the fact that King did more good for the team when he wasn't in it than when he actually played :)

Sounds like a description of Jose Mourinho. merkin in media, can't handle personalities, but can win you silverware by whatever means necessary
