Does having good intentions always guarantee the right decisions being made?
The quality of a decision is based on the information available at the time, not what happened afterwards when all the possible outcomes have narrowed to one.

As an example, if you state that a flipped coin has a 50% chance of coming up tails then flip it 10 times and get 6 tails, were you wrong? Some idiot might claim the results were proof that the coin was rigged, or that all coins are 60% likely to show tails. And they would be wrong. Randomness is always a factor.

So you don’t think clubs (not just ours) are capable of making poor decisions? Are you cereal?

And yet they receive few accolades when they do well.
The most important player on the field is the QB. The O-line is the next most important, yet it's the RBs and WRs that get all the attention.

I completely agree.

Similarly (but perhaps not to the same degree), on the defensive side, all the accolades go to the cornerbacks, and safeties - but a good defence starts with a strong defensive line.

Your are dreaming if you think he is costing 300k or less. At that price atleast 5 or 6 clubs would of chased.
And he was almost the best winger in game when dogs signed him whilst they where rubbish and paying overs to attract guys.I don't beleive the 550k figure. 650k more like it.

I'd say we offered him 500k for next season. I'd also guess we are only paying about 400k this year as Dogs would of paid his first few months. Guys like Russel would demand 200k and he is a fringe nrl player. JAC at 400k is a bargain
Consider this:
If in such demand as you and Pou say why accept only a 2 year contract?
Who in their right mind accept a CO if in such demand?

There was ZERO demand for him, even Ryles had to think about it for a week or so before offering him a life line.

We've discussed this before. They might make poor decisions but us watching at home wouldn't know. When clubs make decisions there is always risk involved. There is always a chance things could go wrong. A signing could turn out to be worth less than he's being paid, for example if he gets injured. Two strong personalities could clash, leading to a lack of unity in the group. All sorts of shit could go wrong, and the clubs know it. But making no decision at all won't lead to success. They need to roll the dice.

That's because we wanted to keep the grand final team together and they were all over 28 at the time. If we had decided to rebuild after the grand final, whingers like you would've pissed your knickers.
I agree with Pou, here. If anything they deserved to be extended given they got us to a GF. Easy to say shit didn’t turn out in hindsight.

I don't watch NFL any more, so maybe things have changed, but there definitely used to be star defensive linemen (e.g. Reggie White, Bruce Smith) in a way that offensive linemen weren't celebrated. I suppose pass rushers are a lot more visible.

yeah, the only complaints I noticed post 22 is that we didn't adequately replace our 9 and backrower and added a decent outside back.

as far as I was aware we were happy to have the rest of the squad there.

Because he is risky. Not only did he get caught with illegal drugs in his system, but he's only played 29 games in the past two seasons.

Wishart has a club option. I'm certain the player is compensated for it with extra money. The benefit of the option is to the club (obviously) so there must be something in it for the player.

Or did we spend the week negotiating?
