New South Wales Students have spent the last ten days or so playing games in Serbia to help Serbia prepare for the upcoming Euro nation games.
Anyone heard any reports or scores from these games??

"The Australian Students arrive on 29th September and will stay until the 11th October, playing three matches.
3rd Oct 2009 v Serbian Students

6th Oct 2009 v Serbian Representatives XIII

10th Oct 2009 v Serbian Residents XIII "

No news I can find from any reports.
I hope they have not been blow out scores that Serbia RL do not want to report because they have been very good at posting results in the past.

Serbia's European Cup squad will create history on Monday when they launch tournament preparations in west Cumbria – and rugby league fans are invited to share in the occasion.

The squad, including Haven prop Soni Radovanovic, will spend five days in the area before flying to Ireland for their Euro opener next weekend.
And at the Recre on Tuesday night, from 6.30pm, fans can meet the international squad.
“It’s unique to have a touring party preparing for such a tournament in west Cumbria,” said Gary Hewer, Haven’s head of performance, who is filling the same role with the Serbs.
“West Cumbrians, whether they are fans of Whitehaven, Workington, Warrington or Wigan, can come along and meet international players on their own doorstep.
“For the Serbian board to choose our area as a base is prestigious. They are a development nation, and it’s quite a privilege for us in west Cumbria to have them on our doorstep.”
After Sunday’s clash with Ireland, the Serbia squad will fly to Belgrade to prepare for the following weekend’s visit of Wales.
Ireland’s 20-man squad includes five players from the country’s domestic competition but also the likes of Super League stars Scott Grix, of Wakefield, Castleford’s Ryan Boyle and Wigan pair Pat Richards and Mike McIlorum, plus a string of Championship players.

Serb national team delighted with west Cumbria welcome

By Martin Morgan

The Serbian RL team have hailed their warm west Cumbrian welcome as they prepare for their European Cup opener in Ireland on Sunday.

The Serbs, coached by Haven boss Ged Stokes, have used St Bees as a training base this week. And team manager Nebojsa Spetenovic has been delighted with the reception from rugby-loving locals.
He said: “It’s great here, very quiet and very good for our preparations. The people are also very nice, and obviously big fans of rugby league. Anyone connected with it is their friend.”
Serbia will be massive underdogs against Ireland, who boast leading Super League and Championship stars, though that does not concern Spetenovic.
“We have no big illusions about winning the cup,” he added, in near-perfect English. “We are now in a learning phase.
“When we started out we played high-profile nations, such as Lebanon, with all their NRL stars, and France.
“But for about five years we haven’t played teams with NRL and Super League players, and we’ve just tried to progress and see how much we need to improve.
“Ireland are composed of a lot of big names, so we’ll see what we can do.”
Haven have revealed they plan to re-sign Serbian forward Soni Radovanovic for next season, after they manage to cut through the red tape that surrounds his return.
“Soni’s raw talent was identified through Ged’s Serbian links, after doing well in their national competition,” said Gary Hewer, who is doubling up as head of performance for Haven and Serbia.
“He came over here, initially on trial, which led to a contract, and he had three senior outings this year.
“And we believe he’s shown enough to be offered a new deal. With a thorough pre-season, he can be very much part of our plans for 2010. He’s still only a young lad, and there’s a lot of development in him.
“Give him time and he will be a handful. Next season he will be housed with one of our coaches, who has a young lad of a similar age. Soni needs a support package around him.”

Knowing West Cumbria this time of the year it definatly would not be warm weather training.

Well done Serbia and great to see they are doing things properly by developing domestically and hosting tours etc, instead of going for the easy and lazy option of picking a host of Aussies and a handful of Union players like most nations seem to do.

Dorcol,
where was their base?
St Bees School?

Any one who does not know the area its a small coastal village a few miles outside Whithaven.
Very quiet and a public school that hosts all kind of sport groups and camps.

Jesus dorcol!!! Are you guys mental? Not only is the Irish Sea freezing it's also a dumping ground for Sellafield. That's why Cumbrians glow in the dark :lol::lol:

Serbian team was accommodated at Seacote Hotel. Actually, sessions were on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, no matches were played because the boys played on Saturday v NSW Students and on Sunday is next game v Ireland, so another one would be maybe too much.

Serbia arrived on Friday (still today here) in Tullamore, where the match will be played. As far as I know, Irish players are also there, but in other part of town.

RL obviously is not the top sport there. It is the pity that hurling county final is going to be played in Tullamore also on Sunday (KO: 15.30), so it would be not realistic to expect any big crowd. Hurling and GAA are the main in the town, probably RU is the next behind.
