NSW Team 2016

well the footy show asked questions about gallen more so than the team so he ended up talking more about himself. not much he could do about it to be fair and objective.

in theory I agree, him retiring will be great for NSW and even the sharks, but practically who do we replace him with? Unless Merrin starts to pull his finger out there aren't too many people knocking on his door to replace him.

I agree with your last paragraph and that's why Queensland will continue to win more series than not for atleast the next 3-4 years, if not all of them. Thurston, Cronk, Inglis and Smith are still playing their best footy and will for a few more years.

Daley was asked about Gallans future, and he kind of suggested it would be Gallan's call.

I’m not quite sure to be honest with you,” Daley said.
“I’ve had no indication, he’s never spoken to me about wanting to pull up stumps, but I think that will leave a bad taste in his mouth last night.
“Again, that will be his decision and he’ll make that.”

As mentioned Gallan is intent on staying on, if chosen. Laurie Daley might have to make the hard decision and let Gallan go. But so far Daley has given indications that won't be happening.

How come Sutton never gets a look in or mention? There has been no player more consistent during the last couple years for Souths. He is versatile and talented and has the size to back it up

Seems like people just can't get over the image of his inconsistency in early years when he was surrounded by average to bad players consistently

Because Dylan Walker showed when playing for Australia he is out of his depth when it comes to rep footy.

To be fair he was thrown into an unfamiliar position and the whole squad got monster end by a super talented Kiwi outfit

Sutton is the definition of a solid first grader, but that is it. Ask yourself this, is he great in any position? Solid enough as a backrower but there are 10 ahead at least, solid enough as a 5/8 but he is a rubbish kicker (or inconsistent kicker whichever one you prefer). You sort of have to be better than 'solid'

doesn't matter who we pick, we wont beat Queensland for another 3-4 years at least. we talk about QLD being old but they still have a few more years at the top. Plus our two best players (Gallen and Farah) are getting on and we have no one to really replace that class with.

the losing hasn't stopped.

That would depend on 3 things:

1) Thurston/ Smith/ Cronk/ Slater all playing rep football for another 4 years- until they are all 36 (unlikely)

2) None of the aforementioned players taking a golden handshake with an ESL club in the next couple of years.

3. Qld getting a 70/30 possession rate and their forwards laying a platform for them to build upon, every single Origin game.

Unlikely...

Walker is definitely good enough to play against the 4th best rugby league team in the world, Queensland. He's not quite up to playing against the undisputed best team in the world (NZ) yet though. Maybe in a couple more years.

You forget 1 thing...Myth Pearce will be there, so NSW will continue to be diabolical.

- Slater won't play much longer, if at all after this season. The others look fit and healthy.

lol this is Knightmare.
Knightmare is a classic example of why NSW lost so many series in a row, NSW is always building to 'having it's own dynasty and winning as many as Queensland'.

:lol::lol:

NSW self destruction (through selections and Wednesday night's implosion) are a big reason why Queensland dominated for so many years and appeared to have again.

I dont mind this side but I think it will be better to move to this over the next few years.

Id go Dugan, Morris, Jennings, Morris, Ferguson, Moylan, Reynolds, Woods, Farah, Tamou, Cartwright, Bird/Hoffman, Merrin, Austin, Klemmer, Fifita, Frizell

For Moylan to wear the 6 for NSW he first needs to play there for his club. That means Soward or (more likely) Wallace has to play reserve grade. I'm not convinced that's about to happen just yet, but obviously it would depend on how the remainder of this season pans out.

So much can change in just a few short years. You think the NSW hierarchy is going to stay the same for the next 4 years, either? The NSW squad was largely unchanged on merit from last year (thankfully, how many times has stability been complained about?) and this was always going to be a transitional year for NSW. But you're delusional if you think all of the conditions/ line-ups are going to be exactly the same as they were on Wednesday night for the next 4 years...

Well he averaged about 100m per game last year, is hard as f**k for defenders to tackle, has the ball playing skills of a half, good footwork and a honed kicking game. Captained a premiership winning side. Led his team to top four three years in a row at five eighth and is just as effective if not moreso as a ball playing second rower

When we have a blues team that is struggling for points and pretty much has the same sort of player playing from 1-17 it's probably time to think why creative players with such credentials are being overlooked

I would be grooming Sezer and Austin as the halves and hoping they start the year well as a duo for Canberra next year.

Sezer is an excellent organiser with an astute kicking game. Very similar to A Reynolds but with a higher ceiling imo.

He never gets into off field trouble either
