Maloney and Fifita will, deservingly, be the first 2 picked.
All moot points though.
Get ready for
7. Pearce
9. Farah.
I'd go with Reynolds and Maloney too. Well balanced halves pairing.Journalist Andrew Webster threw out the idea today, of choosing the starting halves of Mitchell Pearce and Luke Keary. Its not as far fetched as some might think or recalling Pearce.
I think if your a NSW selector you would be crazy not to pick James Maloney. If I was NSW I would go with Adam Reynolds and Maloney. NSW would be better to develop a long term half back, but the call from some in NSW that Matty Moylan has to be found a spot because Tedesco, Hayne, and Dugan are all options for the fullback spot.
It's not because of who is fullback, it is because he is the best playmaker available. I think you will find that Tedesco has the fullback position towelled up despite recent somewhat indifferent form. Dugan looks likely to play centre. Hayne has a struggle on his hands to make the side at all, since it seems he's out for another 4 weeks.but the call from some in NSW that Matty Moylan has to be found a spot because Tedesco, Hayne, and Dugan are all options for the fullback spot.
To a Queenslander of course it's not.Its not as far fetched as some might think or recalling Pearce.
Obviously NSW need Lucas Keary and Mitchell Pearce in the halves.
With the future captain of Australia Boyd Cordner an automatic selection, this will give the side a distinct 'Roosters' flavour, especially with the superstar Blake Ferguson cementing his spot on the wing last year.
keary is a toad and deserves to rot in origin purgatory for his career. he might as well declare for wales or somewhere with no sunlight.
anyone can replicate his value at the roosters, all he's doing to compliment pearce is getting the f**k out of his way and supporting on all plays and when pearce is not available off the ruck.
moylan and pearce is the best long term combination. it is solid defensively unlike turnstiles reynolds and maloney together.
I am genuinely amazed at how easily you can disregard Keary.
For the first time in his career he is playing next to a representative level half, and it certainly shows. You seem to have an issue with him due to his complexion, which is both rude and distasteful.
Not that I think Keary is in the frame for Origin - he's not.
But I don't think the eligibility criteria should force a player to one side if he's technically eligible for both.
If someone fulfills the minimum critiera for both sides, let them choose. Example. Born in QLD, played first footy in QLD, but played most of footy and first rep footy in NSW. (ie. Keary's situation, I believe)
You could argue he's more a product of the NSW system, yes, but I don't think it would do any harm to the Origin concept if 'on the fence' players were allowed to choose their allegiance, obviously adhering to strict minimum standards.

Looks like BHP is back.
Good point. Think he was 'neutral supporter' last year. Was he ever gone????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Btw what do you think about Latrell for origin this year?
Nope.
NSW backline is stacked with talent, he's got a long way to go yet.
