Encouraging news for the competition - http://www.tertiaryleague.com.au/news/article.php?id=1241
Whilst many open age district Rugby League competitions are currently struggling for teams and numbers, the NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League has continued to buck the trend.
The completely amateur open age competition, which consists of clubs from around the Sydney basin, Newcastle, Bathurst and Canberra, is looking to be the first to reintroduce a third division competition.
With the Tertiary League determined to encourage as many people as possible to take part in Rugby League, it is hoped that by bringing back third division, players who maybe previous could not commit to the training required to play at a higher level, or were looking for a more recreational version of the game will take up the code, as well as those people interested to try Rugby League for the first time.
Already five clubs have committed to entering teams into the 2010 Third Division competition, with more expressing interest in the concept.
New clubs, or existing Rugby League clubs interested in playing third division are more than welcome to apply to the new competition.
Clubs interested in joining the NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League can apply by filling out an application at www.tertiaryleague.com.au
