Three of the four players in the three quarter line from Parra is fair enough - their 3/4ers cut Newcastle to pieces when we played them.
No Newcastle forwards when we didn't lose a forward battle all season is dissappointing, but our best bloke, Jeremy Maa, is injured - if he was available i'd want to call in the stewards.
Tyler Sullivan is lucky to get a run - there must be a shortage of 5/8s this year.

I copied and pasted the team from a website without editing. A few mistakes in spelling and it had Jon Pepa playing for Parramatta. All corrected now i believe.

The team is ok but there are a few controversial selections. Hopoate does not deserve selection at fullback in preference to Chris Ulugia who is clearly the best FB in the comp. IMO Hoppa is lucky to be in the side at all.

I have seen Lachlan Burr play once and that was the semi against Penrith. He dogged it against the big Panthers forwards that day so I can't believe he gets a starting spot for the big game.

Jacob Miller is a bit small for the centres and I would have played him at five eight. Tyler Sullivan got outplayed by Seage and Wehbe both times against Parramatta. I hope the centres get to see the ball because Tyler likes to hog it a bit.

Jacob Gagen is a very fast player and he has done well for an under 15 player. However he is no better at this stage of his development than Para's other in form winger Sam Ahofono. Ahofono deserved to be picked and in my view is in better form than young Jacob.

And how could they pick Ben Picker from Canberra? His only played a handful of games this season due to injury and they overlooked Blake South from Panthers and Nick Folino from Para who are the form hookers in the comp.

If you are talking about the semi final, Kaisa Matavao was dominant in a losing side...so judging by that he should be in the team at prop too.

Sullivan played halfback in both games against parra - and he was the Knights best in the game in Newcastle - he certainly wasn't outplayed - maybe him scoring that solo try and making all those breaks had you thinking he's a ball hog.

You're right Kaisa Matavao did play well that game. Unfortunately, I only saw the Dogs play once. Do you think Burr deserves his spot? Can you tell us more about him?

Blake South has been outstanding this year. Haven't seen Picker play but if he is anything like his brother's he probably goes alright.

I don't recall Tyler playing a blinder as you suggest in the game at Newcastle. Indeed, it would be hard to stand out when the Newcastle team got flogged 52-10 that day. Tyler hasn't scored a try against Para this season. Here is the result of the Newcastle game:

PARRAMATTA 52 (J Gagan 3 S Ohofono 2 J Seage T Jennings C Alugia E Price tries J Wehbe 8 goals) bt NEWCASTLE 10 (C Redman P Mata'utia tries T Sullivan goal)

I trust this information helps with your memory

Same questions are posed at all levels when there are selections to be made

I dont think you replace a better player with someone in form just because they missed games There is a game to be won and they may think Hopoate and Picker provide better structure to the side

Picker and Hopoate are very dominant players in weaker teams I would guess they stand out so far that it would be hard to judge them against players from Parramatta and Penrith who have so much help to produce their best football

They would have to consider how they have gone in other competitions against those players and they were both in the Australian team last year

Anyone know much about the Queensland side other than Sims and Curry

Sullivan's try was disallowed now that i think of it. Nethertheless - he had the 6 on his back but played halfback and had a very decent game.
I think his best games of the season were at halfback and he was just ok at 5/8.
Parra had a good win that day, but it all came from outstanding work by your centres and wingers - and sh*t work by the Newcastle outside backs.

Do you think Chad Redmond was unlucky not to be selected? I rate him very highly. He is fast and can cover fullback, wing and centre

He is a lot faster than you would think - being a chunky looking guy.
I thought Alex Brew (fullback) was Newcastle's best back, but he was injured mid season and Redman went to fullback for the rest of the season - but back to the question - he was captain of the side and i hardly saw him do a thing wrong in the 5 or 6 games i saw, and he looked very quick when he got in the open - and he is a solid guy - so he wouldn't have let anyone down.

Chad Redman on the left - Gene Brown on the right (Riley's youngest brother)

He's never dogged a game in his life fella, things may not have gone too well for him that day but there have been many occasions when he's been the only one having a go, so it seems to me that you wouldn't know a football if it hit you in the head. To talk about these young blokes the way you do, you'd think they were all playing NRL and Test matches instead of U/16's. Wake up to yourself ya gig.

Dear Preacher - it is one month since my last confession and I ask for forgiveness for saying someone didn't play well.
