I know that it is a long while away but i was interested to hear who some of you think will make the NSW Under-19s and Under-17s teams this year?

Here are my line-ups.

girvie's NSW Under-19s 2007
1 Jarryd Hayne - Parramatta - NRL
2 Chase Stanley - St George Illawarra - NRL
3 Michael Jennings - Penrith - NRL
4 Chris Lawrence - Western Suburbs - PL
5 Shaun Kenny-Dowall - Sydney City - NRL
6 Mitchell Pearce - Sydney City - NRL
7 Eddie Paea - North Sydney - PL
8 Tim Grant - Penrith - PL
9 Wayde Dunley - Western Suburbs - PL
10 Eddie Pettybourne - North Sydney - PL
11 Tony Williams - Parramatta - PL
12 Fred Pakutoa - Cronulla - PL
13 Blake Ayshford - Balmain - PL

14 Aiden Tolman - Norths - QC
15 Joseph Paulo - Penrith - JF
16 Joel Thompson - Norths - QC
17 Tim Moltzen - Balmain - PL

I listed what competition is the highest they have played this year.
NRL = National Rugby League
PL = Premier League
JF = Jersey Flegg
QC = Queensland Cup

girvie's NSW Under-17s 2007
1 Lachlan Coote - Penrith
2 Nathan Gardner - Parramatta
3 Jarrod Croker - Canberra
4 Dean Whare - St George
5 Peter Tuiafiso - Canterbury
6 Beau Henry - Illawarra
7 Wade Graham - Penrith
8 James Henderson - St George
9 James Woolford - Canberra
10 Ben Tupou - Newcastle
11 Matthew Mundine - St George
12 Hayden O'Donnell - South Sydney
13 Josh Nicholls - North Sydney

14 Cameron Dunstan - Cronulla
15 Mitch Jowett - Manly
16 Matt Hyland - Balmain
17 Brad Murray - Canterbury

All SG Ball players.

Some of those predictions might be way off the mark. Let me know who you think will be selected in the teams.

NSW Under 17's needs more Penrith.
Apart from Coote and Graham the only 2 other Under-17s in their SG Ball side are Evrett Vaurasi (a forward) who has been a bench player this year and back Greg Waddell who i rate behind those other players i've listed.

Joseph Paulo is a good player as his resume suggests ( Australian Schoolboys) but his form this year in flegg doesnt warrant a NSW Jersey.
he was in danger of losing his spot in flegg with his poor form a matter of weeks ago now he is injured and wont be returning for a few weeks.

Yes you are probably right. I think i read in Big League that he was playing well (although i don't trust their judgement a whole lot given their comments about Norths best players were so far off the mark).

If Paulo is out of form then perhaps i would move Pettybourne will move to the back row and bring in Stanley Waqa from the Roosters or perhaps Shane Blackett who i notice is in Premier League this week for Penrith.

Joel Edwards - knights Flegg prop - should be a shot at the 19s - as should Callan Richardson if he gets over his injury this week (gun player for under 17s two seasons ago and a try a game player over 4 years now)
Here is Edwards showing the tackling style that has injured half a dozen players in the first 6 rounds.

Edwards may be a chance but there are probably a few props in front of him.
Richardson has to contend with a dozen backs that are playing NRL or Premier League so it will be difficult for him to be selected.

I think those first 5 U-19s players in particular will be in the running.

I think that Speechley, Baiteiri and Mannah are too old for U-17s and i don't think they usually select Under-16s for this match (Kelly). If Mitchell is young enough he will probably be selected for Qld. Gardner should be a certainty for NSW.

Raiders SG Ball side has last years NSW u17 halfback Mick Picker. Reckon he may have a chance?
Unlikely for this year's U-19s because there are half a dozen halves in Premier League who are contenders for the 6 and 7 so i would be surprised if they pick and SG Ball player.

I would like to see them do something similar to what they do in rugby union and have NSW, NSW II and NSW III play against 3 Queensland sides.

There is so many talented players it is a shame that so many miss out.

Tim Grant, Michael Jennings and Eddie Pettybourne made it from SG Ball last yr, it could happen again.

Yeah they had 5 Under-18s in the side last year. Hayne and Tony Williams were the other 2.

I think Under-18s this year will be Mitchell Pearce, Chase Stanley and Fred Pakutoa. If they pick any other Under-18s this year i think Nathan Dib (Canterbury) or Mitchell Cahalane and Lancen Joudo (Penrith) might be a chance.
