Hey BP, the team seems to be chopping and changing around quite alot... is it due to injuries or the coach trying out different things...

How much do you expect us to go down by the hands of the warriors? Could be messy...

Judging by the FOGS & Colts line-ups I believe they have to do with injury more than anything.

The only players we're missing from our full strength line-up would be...

Lachlan Maranta
Aaron Whitchurch
Daniel Levi
Jerome Leedy
Louis Frisby
Daniel Alvaro

The game will either be a close win to Brisbane or a massacre. Brisbane definitely have the talent to beat any side on it's day. Unfortunately, we're just as likely to lose to any side too.

Warriors 38 def. Brisbane Broncos 22 (Timu, Adams, Oates, Nikorima tries; Hegarty 3/4 goals)

Pretty much token display really. Out-played during the important periods before mounting an unlikely comeback before being quashed in the dying stages.

Frei continues to be heavily involved making 49 tackles and 16 Hit Ups. Hegarty made a couple of handy plays at the back, setting up a try and making a few linebreaks late in the match while Oates & Timu continued their try scoring form bagging one each.

Gold Coast Titans 29 def. Brisbane Broncos 16 (Hegarty, Palau, Lumley tries; Hegarty 2/3 goals)

Despite being a bottom of the ladder match, the game was of a fairly high NYC standard. Titans just blew us away with first grade prospect Hymel Hunt who showed what he's capable of by scoring 3 tries.

Kurt Capewell made himself known carting the ball up for a game high 17 runs. Mitchell Frei's work-rate was very good and the forwards had one of their better games in some time.

That's our season well and truly over. It never really got off the ground and while there's been some decent first grade prospects it's disappointing to see another season end in disappointment.

Rumour going around that we'll be appointing a new coach.

Brisbane Broncos 42 (Hegarty 2, Timu 2, Cullen, Palau, Oates, Molo tries; Hegarty 5/8 goals) def. Parramatta 26

Almost a complete reversal of the first grade game.

Parra are in a similar position as our 20s but it was nice to see them rip up. Our backrows were pretty awesome from the sounds of it.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 38 def. Brisbane Broncos 32 (Oates 3, Molo, Hegarty, Palau tries; Hegarty 4/6 goals)

Melbourne Storm 60 def. Brisbane Broncos 18 (Oates, Hegarty, Timu tries; Hegarty 3/3 goals)

Not even the 20s have given us much to smile about.

Belated congratulations to Caleb Timu on making the 2012 NYC Team of the Year. He beat a fairly good field and while you could argue there have been better players than him this year I believe his name still belongs up there. Aside from the novelty of scoring all those tries, Timu has generally been our best attacking player in an otherwise pedestrian side. While he still has a lot to learn (particularly in defence) he really is shaping up as one of the most exciting forwards to come through since I'd say Dave Taylor.

Feel like ranting and writing another wall of text post about the current generation of Broncos juniors (91-93) & why they haven't really worked out but might save it till later.

Brisbane Broncos 29 (Timu, Oates, Nikorima, Lee, Frei tries; Cullen 4/5 goals; Binge field goal)def. Manly Sea Eagles 22

Battle of the bottom ladder sides but obviously happy to see us finally on the winners list once again.

Did it tough, surrendering a 12 point lead to trail by 10 only to assume the lead with 8 to play. Gave away too many penalties (9) which saw Molo binned and once again our completions (75% compared to Manly's 88%) wasn't where it needed to be.

Looks like our backrow stepped up, all over 100m with a linebreak each. Good to see, especially from Binge who's had a disappointing season.

Didn't even know Jai was one of ours. Australian schoolboy backrow, bit of a defensive machine, so probably Guy Ford 3.0

Is this frei guy ready for first grade yet?

Seems like has been around for ever already I have watched some of him last year he looks like a pretty decent player and kicks goals.

His demotion from QLD cup to under 20s would seem to indicate he is not ready. I've seen him play a few times and didn't jizz myself over it.

Needs another off-season.

Still would have played him over Lui.

Handy player to have in your pack. Gets through a mountain of work and can play all across the pack.

Brisbane Broncos 36 (Oates 2, Frei, Binge, Adams, Capewell, Oates; Cullen 6/6 goals) def. Penrith Panthers 34

Great finish to the season.

A very forward oriented game from the Broncos with Molo, Timu, Lee & Frei in particular causing a handful up the middle. However, without a doubt the pick on the field (at least for the Broncos) was Oates who just ran with so much confidence & determination that Penrith found it difficult to handle him.

Despite getting to my seat around the 8th minute mark, I missed most of our 4 tries. My phone had the uncanny ability to go off just before the Broncos made a break & without a crowd I never knew when to look up. From what I saw though, our first two tries came through territory and our forwards making tough runs close to the line. Oates' try came from an inside pass and him charging onto it with speed. Very Te'o esque. The other two were momentum tries, Binge scored on a fringe while Adams came from a break at half-way and being fresh on the field he was good enough to be there in support.

And then Vaipuna Tia Kilifi came onto the field. I haven't seen an interchange have that much of an impact on a game since Johns in Game 2 2000. Tia Kilifi just tore us up on our right fringe and Penrith scored 3 tries to really put a damper on what was for the most part a great half of footy from us.

Thankfully boys didn't let it get us down and we found our footing in the second. Took it to them and was rewarded with a try to Capewell who spotted a gap on a typical third man play down the right. Penrith hit back going for the VPK play later in the half but we were able to hit back with Oates who scored a very similar try as Matt Gillett did against Manly in R10. Penrith would score enough VPK inspired try and despite a very determined defensive effort from us (by 20s standards) Penrith earned themselves a scrum feed with a beauty of a grubber kick that put Capewell in all sorts but thankfully he was smart enough just to kick it over the line.

With 30 seconds left and 20m out from our line, Penrith somehow lost the feed at the scrum and we were good enough to hold on. Even earning a break from Oates. Although, there was a scary moment at the end where Timu lost the ball, Penrith went out-wide but thankfully the scramble forced an error.

Misc. notes:
- Nikorima was the king of making half but inconsequential breaks although it wouldn't surprise me he did that in the lead up of the Adams try. Would beat a tackle, run 10m get tackled and they'd lay all over him. Reminded me a bit of Norman except not as clumsy.

- Cullen was good in attacking range but pretty average elsewhere. Similar player as Hunt except smaller which makes him a bigger defensive liability. Thank god he wasn't on VPK otherwise it would have been more ugly.

- Young guns (pretty sure Arrow is '95) were solid. Berrell is bit of a scooper from dummy half which I don't like but he offered more passes from dummy half than Lee who I say was better because physically he's a better presence as you'd expect. Arrow had an impressive cameo. Made a really good run late in the game where he drove them back a good 20m or so.

- Palau went down injured late in the game meaning Binge had to shift to the centres which made the finish that more tense. Palau is a bit like Nikorima in his ability to make inconsequential half breaks, good prospect though although I just don't think he has the speed out-wide to make anything of it.

-Coombe deserves a wrap for his defence. I paid a lot of attention to this and Coombe was doing a lot of extras which allowed him to make a lot of crucial tackles. He isn't anything special but he's all-round very solid.

Overall I was impressed, especially when you consider how good this Penrith side is. Plenty of talent here who could very well play a big part in our NYC 2013 squad and who knows? Maybe the likes of Frei, Binge, Oates, Molo or Timu could make the NRL squad.
