Is this $360m inclusive of infrastructure costs? That’s how it reads.

Is it essentially like WA Governments $400m commitment for the same thing?

Only difference is NZ $360m includes start up fees and license fee + all the fat trimmings whilst WA Gov’s $400m+ was strictly for infrastructure on the condition WA got an NRL club?

If so then good stuff. That’s how the cash should be spent if an area/bid are serious about getting a franchise.

Inclusive of 90 million coe (some of the money to come from govt) and also the proposed hotel / entertainment district of 160 million

It’s a shame that most of these clubs are so far away. If PNG isn’t coming in until 2028 we might not see teams like this or Perth until 2030+. Such a shame as NZ is crying out for a second NRL team and it’s such a good time.

The pair were former owners of the Bradford Bulls club in England. The bid team also includes former NRL chief financial officer Ed Farish, former Gold Coast Titans chief executive Michael Searle, former New Zealand representative player Phil Bergman and ex-Canterbury Rugby League chairman Simon Doig.

It claimed the club would be funded by "a South Island-based group of private equity investors with a capital base of $NZ60 million".
Chalmers told The Press from Sydney he would not reveal the identity of the Orcas' backers at this stage.

He said a successful bid was "big business' 'and would require "businessmen and women with big pockets'' but he was confident the Orcas had the support to "make it work''.

They’re saying they have $60mill to pay license and set club up. Then $100mill to spend on a CofE. The rest is some speculative talk about hotels and pubs in the city but that’s been an add on since bids were declined and seems a PR exercise at this time.

Be interesting given the board are not the investors what the investors expect back for their investment? Is this club going to start up with huge debt to third party loans from the investors?
