Just off the subject a bit. There are two Paul boys, Robbie and the others name escpaes me. One went to union in Britian and seemed to disappear. What happened there and can either make the kiwi team?

henry Paul went to union. They started to push him towards playing for Englands union team, he might have actually played a game for England A or something like that. But he just didnt kick on as much as they hoped I guess.

Ive heard he is playing VERY well for his union club. He has put on alot of weight though.


Henry Paul was a bit like his brother. he never really stood out, the hype was well ahead of his actuall onfield performance.....he wasnt anything special. Henry was a very good goal kicker though.


As for Robbie Paul, Ive heard his form this season has been pretty poor.


Both have played for NZ in the past and Robbie will probably play for them in the Tri Series. However its unlikley Henry would get a run.

It's been clearly established and admitted that Parramatt was joking about the team he first posted. (And the second Parra-linked team.)

I think Iafeta's NZ team on the previous page is gonna be very close to the mark for the first test, with the influx of those Superleague players once the English season is done and all the matches move to the UK. Whoever posted straight after Iafeta was on the ball with their side as well.

David Solomona is Auckland born, and has performed very well this year on English soil. If the Penrith "hair bears" and Wiki are under injury clouds, Solo would be a good back-up to come into second row or bench.

Jones, Swain and Kearney have all retired with immediate effect, so won;t play.

Would Hape be able to play at fullback?
maybe it could become a perminant position for him. i know hes extremely fast, but thats about it.

Henry. He is now playing rah-rah for the England sevens side.

Robbie won't be in the first match due to committments with Bradford. He will certainly return following that.

I would assume, given the unavailabilities of the retirees, the injured, the purely unavailable and those who have British club committments the team might look something like this: 1 Webb 2 Vainakolo 3 Vagana 4 V Anderson 5 Meli (only because Utai is out) 6 Williams 7 Ropati 8 J Cayless 9 L Anderson 10 Rauhihi 11 Puletua 12 Gulavao 13 Wiki (c) Bench Paleaaesina N Cayless Kidwell Asotasi - after the first test they'll bring into the squad Lesley Vainakolo, Robbie Pau, Tevita Vaikona and Ali Lauitiiti. Not the worst looking team except the lack of a specialist halfback. Ropati is a good, young kid, Webb will be the secondary kicker and they'll use Williams as a bit of a back row ball player as he currently is.

isn't ropati out for the tri series with injury and the english players can play for new zealand in the first test in albany if not in ESL grand final, right?

According to the press over here David Solamona and Willie Poaching are both certain to be in the squad that plays in the UK.

Willie Talau should also be in that side, he's better than players like Vinnie Anderson.

If the Kiwi's pick Robbie Paul though it would be worrying, he has had an absolute shocker this term. He is now playing at hooker because he's third choice at half back and probably wouldn't be playing at all if they had a proper hooker. The guy is lame.

Why is it people keep selecting Benji Marshall in their sides?? He wont be playing, has already ruled himself out due to re hab on his shoulder. As for tigers players inn there, put Dene Halatau( not sure though i've heard he be considering joining the other mob) and Bronson Harrison in there and they wont let you down.

from memory Dene has committed himself to nz while Bronson has said he'd like to play for nz but would also like to play origin (in other words will almost certainly go wherever he is selected first)

I doubt either will make the starting 17 this year but at least one of them should make the extended squad

What's the story with Matt Utai? He was dropped for having a bad attitude wasn't he, for not valuing the Kiwi shirt highly enough?

The NZ selectors are very big on pride in the jersey - and rightly so - so is Utai a threat of not being included on disciplinary grounds?
