NZ v Bang 3

Bloody Vettori !!! Won the toss and bowled, wanted them to bat 1st

Bang 46/4 from 20 overs

Mason has 2/9 from 4, Mills and oram have wickets too

In game 1 they were too attacking, now they are too defensive. Just can't seem to master the NZ conditions

Vettori just overtook Harris to become NZ's top wicket-taker ever in ODIs. I'm obviously not his biggest fan, but credit where it's due. He is certainly a very tight ODI bowler.

Bangladesh implosion continues

78/7 from 31, hold the phone they have just smacked a 4, 82/7 now.

Vettori 3-1-2-3

Only positive from the game for me is the investment i made in McCullum at the TAB for high bat is a reasonable chance, that should come from 1 of the top 3

Vettori is also going to finish the year with the most wickets in ODI's.

One thing though, why won't umpires call him for no ball when he bowls ridiculously wide? One of his wickets he had both feet outside the line which makes it an illegal delivery.

5-for for Dan. The cheapest 5-for you're likely to see. Fair dinkum, give me a crack at him. All you have to do is play with a straight bat. He just bowls straight ones and varies the pace.

Bangers all out for 93. Chris Martin suddenly seems to have become a good fielder, maybe this means he can bat now too?

McCullum just hit Mortaza for a HUGE six, he is literally slogging at every ball

It's very entertaining, but I do worry about the lack of responsibility McCullum sometimes shows with his batting, and the slightly unjustified arrogance. As a whole, he is an underperforming batsman.

Agreed. Someone with his talent should average late 20's, early 30's. The fact that he only recent has got his average above 23 highlights his inconsistency & often his stupid shot selections.

However, much like today, he can be very entertaining.

He needs to look at Boucher, who has steadily increased his average now to almost 30.

50 up from 19 balls for McCullum, missed the world record by a couple of balls

72/0 from 4.3 as McCullum blasts another huge 6, at this stage Bangers were 3/1.

A return to the bad old days of Banger cricket

I disagree MV, lets be honest here, this sort of target you can play like this. For the remainder of his innings this summer, he has played very well in the opening role, some slow paced, and some high paced innings

Another 6 out of the ground as i type this, 78/0 from 5

I don't place much importance on averages in ODI cricket for people that have constantly batted 6 or below. His role has oftern been coming in for the final 6 overs and trying to blast a quickfire 30 to finish off an innings, you will always be a hit and miss cricketer playing that role. That also reflects in the averages of Oram and Styris, who were also in the pinch hitting role to begin their careers.

Game over

95/0 from 6 overs

McCullum 80* from 28 9x4 6x6
How 7* from 8

Shame we weren't chasing 40 more, Afridi would have been under threat

Styris has a good average, 32 is perfectly serviceable in the ODI arena.

McCullum has always had an issue with shot selection.

But 80 off 28. That is pretty brutal.

McCullum has done a fair bit of batting up the order too, and not been any more successful. Averaging low to mid 20s down the order suggests that he isn't quite coming off enough when he comes in down the order, and that IS important. Ditto Oram- yes, his average was low because of where he batted, but it was also low because he was not doing a good job of batting there.
