I agree Angry dude, surely Joe Burns could be worth a trot instead of these tried and failed pair.

Notch not named due to "personal reasons"
Hope this doesn't grow a leg

He only has one other ODI (vs india) and the tri series final
plus 2 warm up ODI games to get right for the world cup

same goes for injured Hazlewood

If England can't beat Australia without Warner, Clarke, Daily Bailey and Johnson they should go home now and save their fans of embarrassment of another world cup flop.

Now isn't the time to 'trial'. We need a backup player for Clarke for the WC.

Burns didn't have a great Metrador Cup, Cam White was the leading scorer from memory.

most of those were at North Sydney oval, don't count at all IMO. The useless Victorian had been tried several times and failed for the most part.

Yes but you can only get runs. Who else is there, Burns isn't great domestically in 50 over cricket.

I imagine Voges is next in the pecking order and he's about 120 years old so he fits the bill as far as our selectors go.

If the poms dont win this they may as well give up.

These are the top 11 runs scorers in the Matador cup in November. Lots of older guys there. Burns wasn't too bad at all.

Khawaja (now injured) 523 runs at 74.71 (99.05 s/r)

Dunk 403 runs 67.16 (109.21)

Hartley 403 runs 57.57 (83.09)

White 354 runs 59.00 (97.79)

Ferguson 289 runs 48.16 (92.92)

Burns 278 runs 46.33 (91.74)

Klinger 274 runs 45.66 (72.10)

Neville 267 runs 33.67 (69.89)

Voges 255 runs 42.50 (69.48)

Paine 249 runs 49.80 (91.88)

Carters 242 runs 60.50 (86.42) included 4 not outs where he saved the blues coming in at no6.

I'm pretty sure Carters was batting at 1 or 3 in the 4 day games for NSW, made 198 in his last dig, he seems pretty versatile, and he can keep.

Looking at those scores Burns should be given a go and I think Oozi is out for the rest of the season with a pretty bad injury.

Wouldn't mind Ferguson at all. Been there before, and done well...he's got experience without being too old and to be honest given his missing years with knee injuries he's probably a bit younger than his age, if you get what I mean. Burns would be a good pick too. I don't want Voges, too old...at least a Ferguson could have a few years in the side if needed.
