Not certain on our choices.... how much difference a year makes.

Amerson is kinda uninspiring. He fills a need, a desperate need, but he has issues at Corner, and hasnt been tested at Safety. I could be eating my words, as he could turn out to be a great selection at Safety.

Reed is another hole filling option. Davis (who I have a man crush on) is unreliable for many reasons, and Paulsen isnt going to frighten anyone. Its a solid need pick, but the D backfield is still my concern.... and a pass rushing LB to cover for the inevitable injuries to either Orakpo or Kerrigan.

Wouldnt mind picking up Phillip Thomas if he is still available at 119, though OL and DL are concerns also.

Maybe Jesse Williams? Dont think he will last that long though.

Sam is a good QB, who has been given no one to throw to so far.

That changes this season though, Givens,Quick,Austin,Bailey is a beautiful set of wideouts and with cook at TE they should be great on Offence.

i dont buy that excuse, the same was said with Fitz. A good QB imo will still make the plays. Brady never had any good receivers until Moss and Welker came along yet one 3 superbowls with Branch etc.

Yeah I think the bills had to go in the direction that they did because they need to step up and make some big calls.
That said I didn't expect them going with EJ, I thought Geno or Ryan Nassib, still EJ has loads of potential and I suppose could be the next Kaep.

That game Geno played was bad, but he also has some pretty solid stats earlier in the year, good touchdowns with no interceptions in the first 6 rounds iirc.
And I think the jets need someone solid like that, god knows Sanchez wont be like that and while Garrard is a good option this year, he's not their future.
They need to get some respect back.

Long shot, but I wonder if the Eagles pick up Collin Klein very late or undrafted, very raw but I can see him fitting well with Chips offence, even as a back up.

EJ i feel is going to be elite, i just have that feeling with him, he has everything, makes all the throws together with being a leader, winner and incredibly intelligent. In saying that, i think Gino will be ok, i still think Barkley will be a success in the NFL whoever gets him too.

Happy with Wheaton in the third, not so much about Bell in the second, I see guys still on the board I would have rather taken later (Franklin in particular, even Lattimore) but then again I'm no scout. Add in the fact that we're still interested in Ahmad Bradshaw. Not thrilled.

Safety is the big need for tomorrow, Shamarko Thomas would be nice.

Mayock must have been on the money with the medical concerns angle on Jesse Williams, thought he would have gone by now, poor guy.

Why didn't the Cowboys just use their pick and take Eifert in the first if TE was that high up on the needs list? Dallas Raiders or Oakland Cowboys?

Im just glad the Rams have Bradford instead of RGIII ;)

We gonna go through this again?

Rg3

Or

Brockers
Jenkins
Pead
Watkins
Ogletree
Bailey
2013 6th
2014 1st

plus having the two 1sts this year gave them the flexibility to move up and take austin.

I know which side I like better.

Please, brady had all day in the pocket to scan the field. plus he knew exactly what the opposing defenses were doing because of the illegal taping of opposing coaches signals since 2000.

http://sportsrush360.wordpress.com/2013/04/27/post-round-3-nfl-draft-review/

Here is blog post I just wrote up regarding Draft review post round 3.

Dallas Cowboys:

1st Round ? Travis Frederick, C, Wisconsin
2nd Round ? Gavin Escobar, TE, San Diego St
3rd Round ? Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
3rd Round ? J.J. Wilcox, SS, Georgia Southern

The Dallas Cowboys were widely mocked among the NFL experts for taking Travis Frederick in the first round but apart from that have done a solid job in the draft thus far. While Frederick was a reach there is no doubt he is the #1 Center in the draft, it was just a reach in the first round when he was projected as a late 2nd. Frederick has a mean streak and will be able to play centre or guard at a pinch. The Cowboys then had a great second day grabbing Gavin Escobar , Terrance Williams and J.J. Wilcox who are all tough and uncompromising players who will contribute right away. The Cowboys needed safety help in the biggest way and Wilcox fits that need while Escobar will be groomed to replace an ageing Jason Witten and Terrance Williams is likely insurance for the brittle Miles Austin.

With their remaining three picks look for the Cowboys to draft a back up Running Back and the Defensive Line with their transition to the Tampa-2 Defense.

I like your take on the Cowboys draft. None of the garbage I have heard elsewhere. Too many people cannot see past their dislike of Jerry Jones. If people would take off their blinkers they would see the picks for what they really are. Quality picks.

Frederick should start as centre or maybe even guard. Escobar will play a big part in the three TE sets. Williams will push Miles to the slot in three receiver sets. Maybe could even force him from the starting team. Wilcox I don't see as a starter this season, but will be a big factor on special teams.

Our forth round pick should be a RB, someone like Johnathan Franklin.

Could be that the Cowboys didn't see a whole lot of difference between Eifert and Escobar. Realised they could get Escobar in the second round.

the cowboys draft is rubbish

a center with a 3rd round grade in the first
a TE when Hanna looked promosing and Witten is still playing at a high level
a WR when Bryant and Austin are on the roster and DL, S, OL, LB and RB are still an issue

and then finally addressing Safety with a 3rd rounder but l had about 4 safety's in front of Wilcox

love jerreh

On Frederick from what I'd seen, a lot had him mid-second.

Hanna imo is not enough, you need two quality TE's at the moment and Witten only had a year or two left imo.

WR is a need when you consider they'd lost a couple and Miles Austin is only healthy like 3 games a year.

With the safety I agree there were 4 imo that were better but I can't fault them for that it was a third round pick and they obviously felt strongly about him.

Given they had already taken Escobar, if they wanted to double down into another offensive player why not RB? Austin misses games sure, but at least they've got Witten and Bryant, and now Escobar and Danny Coale who isnt awful.

Im more concerned about DeMarco Murray getting hurt and then who you got behind him? A whole load of nothing!
How about another OLer to keep your new 100 million dollar man upright and maybe double down by picking a guy who can hold his own in the run game so maybe DeMarco can stay healthy

the WR pick was typical Jerreh. And as i and many have said about Fredericks, the issue isnt with the player, it's with the pick. Why not take Ertz and then Fredericks in the 2nd? They could have if they were smart enough. Isnt that a much better haul if you wanted C and TE than Fredericks and Escobar?

How about Elam at #31, Escobar in the 2nd and Fredericks/Barrett Jones in the 3rd and back it up with someone like Dontaree Moore who could play OLB and allow them to free up cap room by dumping Spencer?

I dont mind the safety pick so much, its a need position and at that point you take your favourite guy. I would question the scouts who said Wilcox was the best S available though

Not to play monday morning QB... because these are all calls that i made during the course of the draft but how much better would this be for the Cowboys and their needs

But my wife is pregnat, so im not drinking and im board... so how about this for a draft for the cowboys

How about:
#31 - Menelik Watson
#47 - D. J. Swearinger
#74 - Damontre Moore
#80 - Brandon Williams

That would get them off the hook for Doug Free, give them the range they need from a Safety as FS. Allow Spencer to be let go after this year and groom Moore as a replacement in the 4-3 DE opposite Ware. And give Ratliff space eating help in the middle and clog up lanes for Lee and Carter to clean up the mess.

Lets even try it with positions they actually drafted, regardless of need

They've got S, TE, WR and OL

#31 - Zach Ertz
#47 - D. J. Swearinger
#74 - Keenen Allen
#80 - Travis Fredericks (or if he was gone, and i dont think he would have been - Barrett Jones)

That draft would be boss for Dallas. I love to rag on Dallas but honestly this is one of the strangest drafts ive ever seen. They have barely touched their needs, they've reached for players and taken guys when better players were on board
