My first round thoughts:
*note this is a copy and paste job from another site in which i posted 2 mock drafts, 1 for how i thought round 1 would go, and one for how i thought it should go
1. TB BUCS: Jameis Winston | QB, Florida State
Pick was obvious and there isn't much to say about it. Winston is a typical pro style QB, so long as he keeps his nose clean i expect the Bucs have got themselves a franchise QB. Still he'll give them some uneasy moments. Nailed this pick in both mocks.
2. TEN TITOOOONS: Marcus Mariota | QB, Oregon
Don't understand it at all. If you think he's a franchise QB, why even listen to offers? Why pretend you were shopping the pick? The reality is they dont think he's a franchise QB and didnt get an offer worth taking so drafted him anyways. Good player in a **** situation, he'll bust badly at the Titoooons. Got this pick in the what they should do mock, but the way they got here is all wrong.
3. JAC JAGS: Dante Fowler Jr. | DE, Florida
Made way too much sense not to happen, the Jags love him, he fits them, he represents need and value. Obvious pick is obvious. Hit on this in both mocks
4. OAK RAIDERS: Amari Cooper | WR, Alabama
Not the pick i'd have made but i do understand the logic, they need weapons for Carr and he's the safest guy in the draft. Pro ready, pro bowl reciever. Mocked it this way in the "What i think Will happen" draft
5. WAS REDSKINS: Brandon Scherff | OT, Iowa
Woah! Did not see this coming. Our first real shock. Good player but with Trent Williams at Washington they just spent the 5th over all pick on a career right tackle. That's not value. They'll regret passing on the pass rushers. Should have taken Williams IMO. Didn't mock this anywhere
6. NY JETS: Leonard Williams | DT, Southern California
Great draft pick, didn't over think it and just took the best player available. They didnt need this but it gives them a terrifying front 4 who could make life VERY hard for Tom Brady. Brady hates interior pressure and is going to see plenty of it against the Jets. Never expected him to last this long, so missed this in the mocks.
7. CHI BEARS: Kevin White | WR, West Virginia
Another pick that made too much sense, perfect WR to line up opposite to Jeffery. Nailed this in both mocks i did.
8. ATL FALCONS: Vic Beasley | OLB, Clemson
Not a Beasley fan tbh, but it fits with what the Falcons want to do on defense. Missed this in the mock, i guess teams had him rated a lot higher than i did.
9. NY GIANTS: Ereck Flowers | OT, Miami (Fla.)
Had Scherff going here in both mocks, but since he's already gone the Giants take another OL. Makes sense, it's a bit of a reach but they couldnt really go in any other direction. Flowers isnt worth a top 10 pick imo.
10. STL RAMS: Todd Gurley | RB, Georgia
I dont like taking RB's this high, even special talents like him. The value in RB's is always in rounds 2-3-4. I think they should have taken Trae Waynes. I did mock it this way in how i expected it to go, and im giving myself a big pat on the back here, not many mocked this move. You always miss a lot so you have to enjoy the wins when they come.
11. MIN VIKINGS: Trae Waynes | CB, Michigan State
They could hardly believe their luck when he got there. Perfect marriage of need, value and fit. They got a really good player here. Great move for an accending team. Nailed this in my "Will go" Mock.
12. CLE BROWNS: Danny Shelton | DT, Washington
It's strange, the Browns had a terrible run defense, and play a hybrid 3-4/4-3 that needed a big NT, and yet it never even remotely occured to me to mock Shelton to them. Flat out miss by me. Good pick though, he flashes amazing potential, gets moved off the ball a bit too much for my liking.
13.NO SAINTS: Andrus Peat | OT, Stanford
No idea where they plan to play him. I guess probably at RG/RT initially. This was a shock pick, and im not a massive fan of it, but all the experts seem to have him rated higher than i did. I was thinking he was a late first rounder at best. Missed badly in both mocks here.
14. MIA DOLPHINS: DeVante Parker | WR, Louisville
A good replacement for Mike Wallace, he's very Mike Wallace like only actually good. Makes sense, gives the Dolphins a play maker with home run speed. Got this one spot on in my "Will Go" mock.
15. SD CHARGERS:Melvin Gordon | RB, Wisconsin
Missed this one, didnt expect the RB's to go this high. I like the player, i like the fit but i dont like the fact they traded up to get him. Just didnt need to do that IMO.
16: HOU TEXANS:Kevin Johnson | CB, Wake Forest
I like the player and pick. The Texans defense is coming for the elite class and Johnson will help. He's as safe a CB as you can probably get. Not sure his ceiling is as high as others but his floor is much higher than most. Really good pick. Didnt pick this at all though.
17. SF 49ERS: Arik Armstead | DE, Oregon
This is about right for the player, in this range. I got the team and player right in "Will go" mock, it just seemed to fit. The player itself im not a fan of, not enough production to warrent this high a pick, but teams seem to love him. He'll be in a good spot to be successful though. I think they should have gone with Peters.
18. KC CHIEFS: Marcus Peters | CB, Washington
Really surprised this wasnt an OL or WR, that's how i mocked them and i missed on this one. Still i like the pick. Peters is the best corner in the draft talent wise, his red flags are character concerns but Andy Reid is the type of guy that should be able to sort that out. Players love Andy. Great pick.
19. CLE BROWNS: Cameron Erving | OT, Florida State
Missed this in both mocks because... well... Browns gunna Browns. They draft C when they already have one, he'll kick out to guard and maybe they dont keep their center next year but there was just no need to go here this early. Like the player, he's really good, hate the pick. Should have taken the guy who went next. They need someone to catch some footballs.
20. PHI EAGLES:Nelson Agholor | WR, Southern California
Gave the godfather offer to move up for Mariota, wasnt enough. This is a VERY nice back up plan. Love the player, love the fit, love the pick. I had Jalen Strong here in both mocks and i'd have been happy with him too but but id have mocked Agholor to the Eagles in my "Should Do" mock if i hadnt mocked him to the Browns one pick earlier.
21. CIN BENGALS: Cedric Ogbuehi | OT, Texas A&M
Some think he's the best LT prospect in the draft, i dont know if i agree with that but he's in the conversation. So the pick is good but again im not sure of the need, not when there is really good pass rushers on the board who fit for what Cincy need. Still he's a good player so i cant be too low on this. Did not mock him in either draft due to him coming off an ACL, Benals didnt seem to care.
22. PIT STEELERS: Alvin Dupree | DE, Kentucky
THis happens every **** year. Some young stud falls into the god damn hands of the Steelers. This guy could have gone as high as the Falcons @ #8. He slides all the way down to the Steelers who laugh their way to another young stud. Great pick. Didnt mock it this way in either mocks.
23. DEN BRONCOS: Shane Ray | DE, Missouri
Don't like the player, but im in a minority here. Broncos move up to get him and didnt give up much. They'll have him Ware and Von Miller to rush the passer, if he lives up to his hype, that'll be a terrifying pass rush. Right area for him in terms of value for me. Didnt mock him to the Broncos in any mock i did.
24. ARI CARDINALS: D.J. Humphries | OT, Florida
Had the Gordon still on the board here in my mocks but he's already gone, at this point too many dominoes have fallen the wrong way so no point referencing my mocks anymore  . With the RBs' gone, i felt the better pick might have been to take a shot at Randy Gregory but everyone is steering clear of him. I like the pick, they actually have a chance of having a competent line this year, they can find a good RB later.
25. CAR PANTHERS: Shaq Thompson | OLB, Washington
This is the real shock of the first round. He's a talented player, speed and power to burn but what is he? SS? OLB? RB? Teams differ. I suspect he's being drafted to the Panthers as an OLB/SS hybrid that they can pair with Davis and Kuechly for form a very versitile back 7. Didnt have him in my top 50 players. This was a reach imo.
26. BAL RAVENS: Breshad Perriman | WR, UCF
The kid can fly, he will replace Torrey Smith in body but not so sure about in production. Incredible athlete but his hands are inconsistant. Not a huge fan of the pick, was worried Philly would take him.
27. DAL COWBOYS: Byron Jones | CB, Connecticut
Incredible athlete. Legitimate world class athlete but can he actually play? Im not so sure. His tape is up and down. Some had him going earlier, some have him going later, this seems about right to me in terms of where he went. The need was there. This is a boom or bust pick. He'll either be a star or another Mo Clairbourne.
28. DET LIONS: Laken Tomlinson | OG, Duke
Not many had him as a first rounder. I did. Love him. He's a pro, guy is going to step in day 1 and be a really good NFL player. I was surprised this wasnt DT, really surprised. They'll need to address DT tomorrow but they will not regret taking Laken Tomlinson.
29. IND COLTS: Phillip Dorsett | WR, Miami (Fla.)
Did the spirit of Al Davis take the body of Ryan Grigson? The faster reciever in the draft taken when there wasnt a need? Didnt have Dorsett as a first rounder. I think he'll be fine because Andrew Luck is slinging the ball and he is going to make the Indy offense almost impossible to cover but i think they should have gone another direction. Still Luck to Dorsett is a big play waiting to happen.
30: GB PACKERS: Damarious Randall | FS, Arizona State
Really surprised they didnt go LB, either inside or outside. I like the Randall guy, to me he was early day 2 pick, and im not sure he's a need for them given he's a FS and they have Burnett and Clinton-Dix but he's a solid player. Hates tackling though which is an issue.
31. NO SAINTS: Stephone Anthony | ILB, Clemson
I don't mind the LB pick but to me there was a number of players on the board better than him. I like Anthony and think he'll be a good player, but i dont think he's better than ILB Kendricks or OLB Gregory, who would have been better picks IMO.
32. NE PATRIOTS: Malcom Brown | DT, Texas
Hahaha, IMFS. A stud DT manages to find their way to BB and the Patriots when they've just lost Vince Wilfork? **** you Patriots, up there on the throne of ease. This always happens, why do teams let this happen every year. Great pick, because of course it **** is.
