Its all good, as I've said many times.
Judd costs as much as a couple of gun forward KPP (or thereabouts) and if the Eagles had them instead of Judd they'd be premiership certainties.
Let the undiscerning masses keep talking him up, as we can just enjoy watching his salary reach record post-million levels, and West Coast can pay for it through extra limitations on their playing list.
On top of this, if he does come back to Victoria then it will almost certainly be a club like Collingwood or Essendon that will pay the $1.2m for the privilege (and giving up quality players and picks), restricting the depth and balance of their list in the process.
This is not a new issue, of course, as the wage capacity of gun players could rise steeply with their reputations in the 70s & 80s as well.
Of course, the difference then was that there was no salary cap in place, so if you wanted to pay a player like Matthews a ludicrous wad of money you could do so without compromising the rest of your side.
