Heather would be considered the best player over the decade (over a 10 year period).

However, who is the best player to play in the last decade, the same player that is the best to have played rugby league, Andrew JOHNS, and by a decent margin.

Here is Robin to Loudstrats Batman!! or should I say Siegfried to LS' Roy. Even going with the whole "Heather" thing now.

Queenslander's and NSWmen debating Lockyer vs Johns is like debating with a Victorian over Rugby League vs. AFL. Nobody is ever going to see the others point of view.

So I guess all we have is statistics;

Andrew Johns;
Club; 249 Games 80 Tries 22 Field Goals 917 Goals
Origin; 23 Games 4 Tries 4 Field Goals 38 Goals
Australia; 27 Games 12 Tries 0 Field Goals 90 Goals

Darren Lockyer;
Club; 307 Games 115 Tries 17 Field Goals 341 Goals
Origin; 30 Games 8 Tries 1 Field Goals 22 Goals
Australia; 50 Games 33 Tries 2 Field Goals 64 Goals

Yup, Joey was one hell of a goal kicker :cool:

Oh please you cant even bring statistics into an arguement such as this pull your head out mate. If your going to use stats use ALL of them and not just those. Joey would single handedly destroy opposition sides at all levels of games almost at will.

Is Lockyer a great player? Yes definetly. Is he better then Andrew Johns? No, not even close.

Lockyer has achieved so much more. Much more distinguished rep career and has single handedly won countless games at club, state and international level. Johns has Origin 05 and one grand final.

BDH -you got try assists?

Heather played half his Origins because QLD spent a decade looking for a replacement for Langer and Walters and had to shift a fullback to pivot ffs!

Joey is even in the heavily Queensland biased team of the century. Heather isn't.

What a poor decade it was when a bloke that puts in pretty mediocre performances and has a massive defensive problem can win the decades greatest player. Imo, asking people with NFI who the best player is and giving them a list of names to choose from will always result in the most famous of those names being picked.

Cause Joey never played a Mediocre game or missed a tackle.

And Andrew Johns doesn't have a recognized name?

Opinions removed, I think you could compare the two by taking into consideration that few (if any) good judges would rank Lockyer above Johns for playing ability, while plenty would rank Johns higher.

I think what happened with Lockyer's career was that he was shoehorned into something that wasn't necessarily his forté, if the Broncos didn't require him to become a half (both with the 6 and 1 on his back) he would have continued to dazzle throughout his career at fullback and we'd be comparing him to guys like Langlands and Churchill I guess.

I will say this - imagine if Johns did go to Brisbane all those years ago? Lockyer #1 and Johns #7?
