Justin O'Neill will play in the centres, Sisa Waqa will play on the wing.

I just think he is bigger than Politoni and therefore won't get bulldozered as easily.
I can see your argument.

But in reality, technique plays a bigger role than body mass.

Adam Blair is bigger than Liam Fulton, but Fults is a million times better defensively.

True that. Although I must say that Blair has the quickest play the ball going around. I notice Robbie goes for a scoot on the back of a lot of Blair's hit up. I'm starting to warm to him.

Gibbs has a quick play the ball too.

I still have yet to see how picking up Blair at the loss of Gibbs has been a good move for us.

Blair hasn't offered anything more in attack than Gibbs ever did and defensively, well, no one can compare with Gibbs defensively. imo, he is the best defensive prop in the world.

Gibbs is making outstanding metres this year as well.

To be expected I guess with a coach that doesn't drop players for running too hard and/or straight

I get where you are coming from. But I think Blair is getting more comfortable and better every game. He's still only 26 and he's here for the long haul.

I think at some stage we need to stop thinking about the circumstances of how he got here and just embrace him. Well I'm ready to embrace him anyway. I think he's gonna be huge player for us.

Well said....Gould said as much as well and thinks it may take a year for him to reach his potential in this side. I remember quite a few here also wondering WTF Sheens had in mind in signing Utai..Bell (a plodder he was described as)...that Ryan should be punted out of the place...that bringing Fulton back was a mistake because he reached his peak in '05 and was now ineffective etc etc etc. Sheens knew what he was doing in signing Blair..i was and still am a big fan of Gibbs but he's near broken and Blair will just get better and better under Sheens coaching and in the style of side the Tigers are (as opposed to his role at Melbourne). People were already judging Blair after his first few games for the club FMD

In gear ... Adam Blair has overcome a slow start for the Tigers. Photo: Getty Images

HAVING been denied of a fitting farewell with Melbourne following a season-ending five-game suspension last year, things didn't get much better for Adam Blair when he joined the Wests Tigers.
He was criticised, not just for forcing Andrew Fifita and Bryce Gibbs to Cronulla, but for his perceived poor start to the year as the pre-season premiership favourites found themselves glued to the bottom of the ladder following five consecutive losses leading into round seven.
But as Blair prepares to return to Melbourne tomorrow night for the first time since joining the Tigers, with his team flying high on a six-game winning streak, the maligned 26-year-old has surprisingly defended his knockers, admitting his start to the year warranted the scrutiny and criticism he received.
Advertisement: Story continues below
''Everyone was watching how I played, and I thought [the criticism] was fair,'' he said. ''I wasn't playing good footy, I knew that myself. All I wanted to do was be consistent for the club, play some good footy and help them out. I think now that we're winning, I've found what I do for the team and what I need to do now.''
Blair, who signed a lucrative deal last year that will have him at the Tigers until the end of 2015, is only just starting to find the form that once had him lauded as one of the game's premier forwards.
He said he was guilty of trying to overplay his hand in the early stages of the season but, having simplified his role for the team, he believes he's finally starting to find his feet at the joint-venture side.
''I think I was trying to do too much,'' Blair said. ''I knew what I was doing but I felt I was trying to do too much. I just had to pull back a bit and try and stick together with the team. I felt like I was going one-out and doing a lot of things the Tigers don't do.''
While many Tigers fans, as well as Blair, have been critical of the Kiwi international's impact for his new club, coach Tim Sheens said he hadn't been disappointed by what Blair had brought the team.
''He's not here to score 10 tries a game,'' Sheens said. ''He's not a spine player, he's a worker, and he's never let us down. He's played almost every minute of every game, so we're getting value.''
While Blair's on-field performance has met the requirements of his coach, his off-field actions aren't where they need to be.
Sheens admitted he wanted Blair to take a senior role and provide some leadership at training, but believed it was only a matter of time before the former Storm enforcer feels comfortable enough to bark instructions to his new teammates.
''He's been pretty quiet actually, that's probably something he's growing [into],'' Sheens said.
''I liken him to Gareth Ellis. When Gareth came to the club he sat back and felt that he had to earn the right among the senior guys, and Adam has been a bit the same. I've encouraged him to open up more but he's a very quiet guy who'd prefer to do his talking on the field.''
The Tigers will take on a Storm outfit missing star trio Billy Slater, Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk at AAMI Park tomorrow night.
They are fourth on the ladder, and while Blair believes they have the quality to win it all, he is refusing to look too far ahead. ''I think we've got the players here to go all the way,'' he said. ''It's early days at the moment.''

Story seems pretty much on the mark. He will only improve for us, as he has been.

IF we had held onto Gibbs Woods would have had his development as a prop stifled beyond belief.

IMHO We let Gibbs go to keep Woods and Fifita go to keep BMM in the long term, Blairs contract value is only of concern this seaon in regards to turning over players as we are not going to have anyone coming in on Ellis sized coin and the cap feathers out better

I'll take the Woods/BMM combination everyday of the week.

I do not understand this talk about Blair finding his place in the tigers attack blah blah.

What is it that Fulton does that is so amazingly complicated that Blair is unable to do it?

Or Bell

Or Heighington.

Blair is clearly better than all 3 of those blokes, and none of those blokes do anything magnificent or complicated.

Blair's inability to match any of those blokes in any aspect of the game thus far is down to him being too damn comfortable and ultimately, very bloody lazy. Every forward in our squad is showing him up, even f**king Cashmere!

He needs to be told that he has to be our Ellis. He needs to run hard, hit hard, tackle hard, lead by example.

His effort is not matching his potential or his ability.

By his standards, he is performing at around 40% or what he has in the past and of what he is capable of doing.

How he got here isn't my issue with him.

It's his salary. He's getting paid more than Fulton, Woods, Bell, BMM, Moors and Cashmere all combined, and yet all 6 of those blokes are out performing him in every aspect of the game.

Thats my grievance.

The gap in performance between Ellis and Blair is enormous. Given they are on similar salaries and Blair has age on his side, it's just not good enough.

He may be improving, but he's still underachieving for a player of his ability.

I don't think that Blair is a much better a player than Fulton. I think Fulton runs great lines and is evasive and has a good fend. I haven't seen that from Blair ever.

Blair has been improving but I think he needs to do a lot more. Blair to me should be compared to Ellis. Compared to Ellis he is ordinary excluding the fact that he has been on the field a lot more than Ellis.

fulton has one issue.

His size.

If Fulton had the frame of Blair, he'd be a borderline test player, unfortunately, he's just too small (light) and gets easily accounted for by defenders.

If people want to call a spade a spade, Blair is showing nothing more than a lot of guys I've seen this year playing VB Cup. He is a very average footballer who wouldn't look out of place in VB Cup. There is no 'finding his feet' or 'out of form' etc. He just isn't so good.

Stick Ellis next to him in the second row and we'll see the gulf quite quickly.

On a side note, how good has the pack looked without Groat.

Looking a lot better, but that's not entirely his fault. Sheens has brought him on far too early and expected him to play bigger minutes than he should have with Gibbs & Fifita being released and Payten retiring.

I haven't been a Blair fan however I think he is starting to perform.

I thought he was one of our best tonight. He worked really hard in defence and he has a couple of really good upsides - his passing game and his play the balls are really good. He isn't a great ball player by any means however his passes are crisp and go to the man.

Fulton for instance in my opinion is a really good player. Blair doesn't work as hard as Fulton does but Blair has it over Fulton with his play the ball, his passing game and his hit-ups in the middle of the field. Fulton is a better runner of the footy out wide and makes more tackles.

I really rate Fulton as a contributor to the club however I think Blair offers us a little more at the moment. I hope that continues.

Heigno was also good for us tonight. I think the whole pack went really well.
