FFS. A 30 in grade cricket is being talked up in the national news.

Watson does not deserve a spot in the test team as a batsman. He has done nothing at all to earn it.

Is the writer taking the piss?

 Hilarious that a 30 is making headlines, but truth be told with the batting stocks you lot have Watson is a blessing.

that wasn't even a 30 in FC cricket, is a 30 in grade cricket where other guys in his team made centuries

it was a silky failure to get on with it after he got in against grade cricket attack. I see, just what Australia need

A silky innings isn't:

A) Only 30 runs
B) Of those 30 runs featuring a snick through the slips
C) Being bowled neck and crop by a bloke who I've never heard of

There's certain people, including some in the media, who, for Watson's own self worth and ability to succeed, have to stop smoking his pole. He needs some straight up honesty. You're precious bloke who has the resilience of a 4 year old schoolyard runt, who has all the ability in the world but has what - 2, 3 test centuries? A bloke who has been given his opportunities should be averaging in the mid 40s and slapping tons around. He's an immense underachiever. I am amazed he is the Australian vice captain.

Test teams are now piked on 20_20 form where 30 is a handy score. Hence Maxwell's well contributed 9 in the last odi.

that's not a bad idea, piking people for their T20 form, that will learn them for playing that farce of a format

imagine if Watto hit a 50, or a 100 in grade? It would be portrayed as the ressurection of Bradman

wow did anyone see Inside Cricket there was some real cringe worthy stuff

they interviewed Justin Langer and asked about the team for India "I like the balance that Maxwell gives us at 6 plus he can bowl good spin"

there was some other guy who I didn't recognise "if not Maxwell then X should go as he is in form, SOK is clearly the best first class bowler in Australia and has been for years but they will continue to overlook him"

McGilla pitches in and said "how can you pick a spinner for a test match on ODI form"

"well who else is there?"

they all (except Langer) basically agree SOK will be overlooked despite being the best FC spinner

What I don't get is why would you pick an allrounder as the spinner when you could pick a pace allrounder and 2 genuine spinners. I have no issue with Doherty because I think he is a good spinner that would do ok in india but he is more a container then a wicket taker (which can work in india). Maxwell has shown no form with either bat or all outside picking up 2 wickets in the last 20/20. I don't get the love with him, he is a worst batsmen then Smith and people complained about him at 6/7 and Maxwell is no better then Warner or clark as a bowling option.

they made a good point about X, he's a tie them down spinner rather then an attacking spinner which is why he is good at ODIs

that OK if a guy can bat and we use a part timer to tie them down but a specialist spinner should be able to do more and I agree, the obvious choice being SOK as he is a wicket taker but they all agree he will be overlooked

Langer is a complete and utter spastic.

he also said the no 6 spot is up for grabs, between Wade and Maxwell

I was flabbergasted, this is our test team he was talking about not our ODI team

McGilla stepped in and said this is a huge tour for Wade, if he doesn't do well he should be dropped for the ashes

McGilla made more sense than all the others put together

You think X is a good spinner , seriously ?!

The guy averages 45 with a strike rate of 84 in FC cricket. I'm not sure that even puts him in the mediocre category.

If they are that desperate to have a bowler at 7 then SOK should be the man. His batting is better than Johnson who was our last batter at 7.

IQ'd Inside Cricket to watch later .. Might be an idea to not bother, might end up busting the tv when I throw something at Langer.

I'm going to day 1 at Trent Bridge. If I see Glenn Maxwell batting at 6 or Doherty bowling pies I'll dead set erupt. I'm not flying all the way to the UK to see that garbage.
