Back to Escape From NY. This photo is awesome. It is a behind the scenes shot of the “subway crazies” What you may not pick up is that the NY Chock Full of Nuts premises was built and filmed in the middle of a movie ranch just north of LA.

The only scene filmed in NY City was the Statue of Liberty. Very cutting edge editing was able to make the heli port appear to be on Liberty Island.

If you look at my avatar it is a picture that I took in 2019 near Santa Clarita California. It is the cliff faces or mesas of the old movie ranch, Indian Dunes. These mesas were made famous in numerous productions during its twenty plus years as a working movie ranch. The start of The Exterminator where the Vietnam scene takes place shows a great view of these mesas when the Huey chopper flys in and out. It was also made infamous by John Landis where he attempted to film a similar scene for The Twilight Zone And resulted in the deaths of two child actors and Hollywood legend Vic Morrow.
