So rather than a sad Sunday, what are the successes/progresses for the Warriors so far this season?

For me one thing I've liked is that the 400 jerseys a season concept has been binned. Only a little thing but maybe it shows they're listening?

Onfield, Mannering taking Stacey Jones record. The redemption of Gavet maybe?

Do you work for the club?

Hoffman's 300th was a great moment, for him, the team and fans.

I always wanted to work for the club, but over the years I reckon that being one of the support staff must be soul destroying. Imagine being one of their Facebook staff, trying to spin another positive after a loss :/
Hoffman's chapter on his stint with us could be interesting

There's a guy I see at first grade games, he's obviously media/pr. He gets around with his camera, taking fan shots, etc. A couple of times I've felt like flipping him the bird, but I'm too polite for that. Most of the time I support him in his job, early in the game, when the crowd's still in good spirits!

Positives:
CNKs step up to first grade
Ken's progression
SJs improvement in consistency
Mannering's form (God tier stuff)
Gavet stepping up

Sadly it needs more than those 5 to form a winning side. Most of the others have been average to poor most of the time. But they'd probably be the ones I'd be keeping (plus RTS) if I was to go hard with a player cleanout.

Negatives would be a book.

You watched Fridays game?
Ken took 20steps backwards.
Before the game maybe, but 2 good games doesn't equal progress.
Let's hope he has the mental fortitude to come back from it.
Because Kearny won't drop him anytime soon.

There's a book about the Warriors called Beleaguered by Chris Mirams covering the pre Eric Watson era. Really interesting ( mark Ellis volunteered to take a pay cut cos the club was broke). One paragraph always stood out to me, where the support staff would be morosely cleaning up the shed after another poor performance, while the players were laughing it up. Something like that anyway. And I honestly do feel the culture is better at the club now, they do genuinely want to succeed...

I think the fact he played better without Kata inside him for a few weeks is no coincidence

Ken made 3 errors yesterday that was his responsibility and that was defusing bombs. The other error Ken made was off a poor pass from Kata but given the circumstances, Kata did well to get it out to Ken for him to score. Unfortunately the TMO ruled Ken knocked on and that brings Kens error rate to 4 for yesterdays game.

I don't think Ken missed out on any opportunities from having Kata there yesterday. Katas two tries came through his own busts and didn't need to pass. Basically Ken had trouble with completing the tasks of his job description yesterday.

2 for me,
The rise of CNK and
Gavet doing what he always had the potential to do ( and I think there is more to come).

The negatives bore me to tears tbh, I feel ripped off. They promised so much and gave sfa.

I'm not pointing the finger at the players necessarily.

It wouldn't matter if we had the top 13 players in the world running around. We still wouldn't make the 8.

Poor old Solomone's a bit short for bombs but, yeah, if he's Johnny-on-the-spot he must take them.

A more skillful, creative and/or experienced winger might've tried to Wynton Rufer that dodgy pass from Kata and follow up with a put down in-goal.

Great idea!

I thought Ken scored it. I don't think Ken knocked it on but unfortunately that will now count as error against him.

Sadly, that last paragraph is complete truth.

The other thing about doing the soccer stuff with a low, poor pass is that if you do get into the in-goal it's not only just about getting a try, Ken would've also been a white-hot chance of trapping a Panther in-goal.

He did the same at the recent Eels game, the match-winning try went begging but, also, the Eels were on the rack, if trapped in-goal a repeat set might've truly finished them.

Both times Ken went for the pick-up but.

I hate to say it, but what's to suggest we'll improve one iota for 2018? I mean, we recruited 'well' the last two seasons and that's done shit all. Next year we've got Harris which is all well and good to replace Hoff, but there's stuff all else. Hingano has gone backwards. Johnson is going into another season milky on an injured leg. Ben's gone. Jake is one year older. We're not improving our backline, at least personnel wise. Simon can't go on carrying this side forever. Our coach looks like a deer in the headlights. No one's helping him.

Honestly, I know we are doom and gloomers some time...but gee I see no bright horizon. Maybe it's a good thing that we'll be picked as no hopers for the first time in gee, forever.
