Funny, I remember the likes of Brandon Smith, Cam Munster etc going on a tear after the GF last year, with big personalities and no one had any outrage. Munster turned up drunk to Origin camp, rung Bennett to say can I be late...and everyone thought it was hilarious. The Cheese went on a bender and it was no issues.
So let's not be f**kwits and pretend you're not allowed to have a personality - that's boring, incorrect, tired old rhetoric. Yeah you can't be who they were in the 70s-90s, which in some ways is attributable to the media (read mostly their embarrassing insistence on swarming Mad Mondays etc) but also to the way society has changed, and also to quite a lot of player behaviour incidents around booze and women.
So there is ways to have a personality and be successful in the NRL, despite what Mr Butt Man said. You just might have to be a bit discernable about how you do that.
