One Positive re Sheens

If Sheens continues to be successful as Aussie Coach and he makes a good impression amongst the game's elite, perhaps we will be able to attract some of the game's top players to our club.

This has definitely happened in the past.

Does anyone agree?

No mention of who.

Personally I'd like to see Nathan Brown as coach here

wtf?

Strange statement MU.

The team put together at St George for Brown, pound for pound should have won at least 2 premierships.

In a mile over his head (slapping his captain on the field etc - pretty smart and classy eh?).

Worst mistake St George ever made (incidentally, why do you figure they've now gone for the mentor style coach in Bennet?).

Irony of ironies, it was the giant Brown coached team that got destroyed by the lightweight Wests Tigers outfit on that fatefull night in 2005.

Sure, this board is a Sheens hatefest, but the fact remains he's won exactly 4 more premierships than little Nathan.

Seriously MU, what is the logic behind the claim?

If 'it' happens and we are looking for a coach, certain things seem reasonably sure:

* none of the existing WT coaching staff have any strong claim to take over.

* none of the recently tossed coaches from other sides can put in a strong claim- lack of success is already proven.

* bringing a coach over from ESL would be the least preferred option.

Although I do reckon the club should be developing "linked / sister" club status with a ESL club eg Huddersfield Giants already have a large number former WT players. Maybe the clubs can learn from each other and jointly develop players etc.

Anyway in terms of coaching I'd say open the field up and see who is interested. There are enough former players out there that would like to transition to coaching and making the right moves in lower grade coaching and/or mentoring roles now. Also look at a total package of head coach and the 2 x assistant coaches to make sure the cronyism that has developed recently does not perpetuate.

Brown was too young. He's doing wonders an average Hudds at the moment. Perhaps the only problem is that he seems to be stuck in the wrestle era, but perhaps he's just working to current SL conditions with a below par squad.

Gentle would be my choice in the short term at least.

Kearney - didn't exactly give Wests any value. Bricks for hands and lazy in defence. What's he going to coach - platitudes?

Nathan Brown had f**k all support from the guys running the Dragons from what I gather.

Whats the biggest issue for the Tigers, Recruitment, retainment and defence.

What three things had he managed to do very well at the dragons?
Recruitment, retainment and defence.

Look at Huddersfield this season, for a long time they've been also-rans, never been a serious premiership contender since the Superleague started, now they're a major force. It's no fluke.

Kearney appears to me to be a bit green, he hasn't really been tested on the week in week out rigours of premiership footy.

Your info might be incorrect MU. No dissrespect intended but Brown was paid quite handsomly for a failed performance.

He actually voluntered to understudy Bennet.

Point taken on the Tigers nontheless.

Prince was a catastrophic loss.
