Nice gesture/damage control by the NRL for having that indigenous anthem bit at the start.

Having said that, go Queensland.

Sorry but I disagree.

Why the hell do we keep bastardizing our National Anthem?????

It is not a hip hop song or a boy band ballad, it is OUR national anthem and it should be sung with pride and passion for this sensational nation.

I am tired of it being completely ruined.

Bring back Julie Anthony or someone like her.

In NZ 'everybody' accepts the Te Reo (Maori) and English versions of God defend NZ. Perhaps one day Aussie will be in the same 'head space'.

It's a different story in Australia though.

New Zealand has always been bi-cultural - Maori have been at the centre of NZ culture and built up the nation side by side with Europeans, even if there has been conflict along the way. They are also a significant part of the population.

Aboriginals are a tiny % of the Australian population and are very much at the margin when it comes to Australian culture and society.

Doesnt really warrant having half the national anthem, especially when only 5% of the population would be able to understand the words.

Perhaps a slight over reaction and exaggeration.

The fact is that Advance Australia Fair is OUR National Anthem, and at present we all stand under one flag.

Don't get me started on the whole us and them thing.

FMD, so recognising our indigenous brothers is now a bad thing? Bringing the heritage of both cultures is a bad thing? Gaining favour within the indigenous arena is a bad thing? Some people need to grow a brain.

Profits: Increase favour, reputation
Losses: Umm yea it l00ked lyk a wankfest guys!

None of this occurred to me. I thought it was a novel idea and made what is usually a painfully boring 2 minutes, slightly less so.

Serious queston here....

What Aboriginal lanuguage was it sung in?
Aren't there 100s of different Aboriginal languages?
Which one do we choose?

Leave it as is. IF there must be a change, use the digderidoo for the backing music.

Maoris fought the invasion like the Warrior people they were and as such got a treaty.

Aboriginal folk. Not so much

I disagree. I thought it was a nice touch. Sung in the indigenous language.

Which one?

There isn't an Aboriginal language, you know.

Are we heading down the track of the South African anthem which has five languages (Xhosa, Zulu, Sesotho, Afrikaans and English) in it?
