PLus apparantly rain is on the way...meaning there will be like 40 rush attempts and not many passing.

So everyone thinks Forte will bounce back? I sure hope so.

What do people think about Vincent Jackson? I unfortunately drafted him as my 2nd WR not knowing about how bad his situation would end up. Should I hold onto him to see where he lands or maybe just forget about him and pick up a sleeper WR/RB from waivers?

Luckily I nabbed malvom Floyd and have Hakkem nicks as back up. Here is my team in a 10 person league.

QB: shaub, Palmer
RB: Rice, Forte, Cadilac, Ricky Williams, Dixon
WR: Wayne, Jackson, Floyd, Nicks
TE: Finley
K: Hartley
DST: Dallas

heres my team in a 10 team ESPN league. i have never played fantasy football before but this year there was 8 nfl fans in my office.

my whole draft strategy went out the door when i got the first pick. it was a snake draft so it was 1,20,21 etc.

i was banking on getting say the 3rd to 6th picks in round 1. Ray rice was who i was after in the first round and then try and see if i could nabb Rogers. anyway this is who i drafted

QB - Rivers, Cutler, Cassell
RB - CJ2k, Jonathan Stewart, Leon Washington, Donald Brown, Steve Slaton
WR - Miles Austin, Brandon Marshall, Donald Driver, Aromoshadu (sp?)
TE - Chris Cooley
DST - Bengals
K - Gould

what do people reckon? starters are bolded for week one

i dunno if i need 3 QB's. i took cutler off the board as a trade bait but...no one wants him.

should i persist with a trade (dunno where im weak. any suggestions) or should i cut him and try and pick up a free agent?

Cheers

I'm 100% sure the sleeper tag is a fair tag, for 2 BIG reasons.

1 - When was the last time a ROOKIE TE had any fantasy relevance?
2 - How many times did the Pat's throw to their TE last season?

Answer for 1 is that Mike Ditka was the last relevant rookie TE that made any sort of fantasy impact and 2 not many!.

So he may be the 2nd best TE in the draft...but doesn't mean he'll automatically produce fantasy wise.

And for that purpose he is a sleeper. Of course but...where is he being drafted among ALL NFL TE's? he isn't top 15 I'm pretty sure. Hence why he is a sleeper :D

Now I see where you're going wrong. Consensus is sleepers are considered the players who have been around 2,3,4 (pick a number) years & have produced nothing much beyond the middle of the pack. Then out of nowhere they explode with serious numbers. Bit hard for a rookie to be a sleeper if he hasn't been in the league prior, that is to say you can hardly be unproductive if you haven't been there yet.

And really, are pre 70s stats a fair indication when talking NFL? Would the (Brisbane) Broncos happily hang their hat on the 97 Grand Final? ;-)

Alright, got a decision to make this weekend at running back.

I've got two running back places and a flex to fit, and I have these four players..

Ray Rice vs Jets
Matt Forte vs Lions
Jonathon Stewart vs Giants
Jerome Harrison vs Bucs

Ray Rice has the toughest match-up there, but he is also easily my best RB. The other three have easier match ups, Stewart rushed for 206 yds vs Giants last game (although no DeAngelo Williams), and Harrison probably has one of his best chances for a big game all year... same as Matt Forte. So, who to start?

Thanks

Definitely go with Rice, Forte and Harrison

I'd Drop Cassel instead of Cutler and see if Kareem Huggins RB TB or Fred Taylor RB NE are available on the waiver wire.

Love your depth at WR and having Cooley at TE.

TBH I'd drop Anthony Dixon and pick up a WR until Jackson comes back. Then maybe drop that excess WR for a RB.

YOur RB's are pretty much set. Rice and Forte last until week 8 bye's, and you have Caddy (4) and Ricky (5) to slot in there and by then potentially V.Jax will be back.

I'd be looking to pick someone up like Danny Armendola (Slot guy who got heaps of looks from Bradford) or Mike Williams (TAM or SEA - whichever one) instead of Dixon. Even Mark Clayton who's now landed in St.Louis would be a sleeper candidate.

Watch the waiver wire but, because instead of Dixon you could pick up a potentially useful player that hasn't been handcuffed. I.e. picking up Kareem Huggins/Lagarrette Blount when Caddy gets hurt. Or picking up a Rashard Jennings with MJD banged up, or even someone like Javon Ringer who will be instant starter for TEN should CJ2K go down. Or if you want potentially a flex starter/ bye week fill in. Fred Taylor is potentially the #1 guy in NE.

so i should hang onto jackson and pick up a sleeper wr to cover. thats reassureing

Maintain roster as it at the moment.

But after week 1 just check targets of those sleepers mentioned.

Then maybe make the move to get rid of Dixon for one. If Jackson isn't traded by like week 5...and nothing is heard from him...then maybe just get rid of him and pick up depth.

Id drop Dixon too and try and pick up a WR who could be a sleeper

Start him or sit him: PPR League
Anquan Boldin V NYJ (and Revis)
my other two WR's are Ward and Crabtree.

Also PPR league, need a starter and a flex player from
Knowshon Moreno @JAC
Arrian Foster V IND
Ahmed Bradshaw V CAR
Cad Williams V CLE

I picked up Robert Meachem, there are a few good WR's on the waivers so i'll chop and change as values go up or down.

For the FLEX spot in a PPR League

Ronnie Brown
Malcolm Floyd
Jahvid Best

wow that's difficult.

Best will be fantastic against the bears. With their pass rush with Peppers, Stafford will be looking for the screen pass or the check down.

But Floyd is the #1 WR in SD and they are playing KC.

I'd go Floyd.

Flyod is a starter this week in all leagues imo, if you've got him, start him i think. I think he'll be a 5-6 rec, 120ish yards and 2 TDs

thoughts guys?

I'd go Moreno and Bradshaw, basically because the Texans are going to be throwing ALOT against Indy and Slaton is the pass-catching RB, not Foster.
