New Zealand back in action:crazy:
Only get one test against Zimbabwe (for obvious reasons), there is however a tour match before starting the coming weekend.

The test squad has been named and now South Africa and England aren't the only sides with South African keepers. This guys is also significantly more South African than Prior as he has played a lot of his cricket there. I'm not criticising, I love the fact that we share our talent. Krugar has actually been playing in New Zealand for a while now and is illegible, so I say good look to him. He used to play for my SuperSport team the Titans, and cricinfo has him as belonging to South Africa in his profile. He wasn't the only keeper named in the squad, but Reece Young was dropped and I am hearing that Krugar van Wyk is the guy likely to take the gloves. Jon Wright has suggested that Krugar will definitely play for New Zealand in the test but BJ Walting is a chance to get the gloves depending on how he goes in the tour match. Both will play in the tour match van Wyk will open the batting and Walting will have the gloves there with "a chance to prove himself with the gloves" (Wright).

Anywho, Kiwi squad for this test is as follows:
Ross Taylor (captain), Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Dean Brownlie, Martin Guptill, Chris Martin, Brendon McCullum, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori, Kruger van Wyk (keeper), BJ Watling (keeper) , Kane Williamson.

The XI for the tour match has been named, but I don't have it on hand, I know that it includes Both Watling and van Wyk alongside Ross Taylor, Daniel Vettori and Chris Martin.

Wonder if these will be the last few tests for Martin.

Would love to go to NZ for test cricket. Test match pass for $45 NZ or a day for just $15 NZ! Neglible prices.

Although for an Aust match would be slightly pricier given we;d be a drawcard of sorts

Wagner is getting a game for the XI too, doesn't become eligable till Apiril though. Tbh I don't know why Van Wyk has been selected, guy is almost 32 years old and is not any better than Reece Young imo. Reminds me a lot of Gareth Hopkins with the bat and I see that he will be opening the batting in the warm up match. But good luck to him I suppose.

wait till Wagner is eligible in a couple of months... he will be close to being put straight in there...

when you have absolute shit in your domestic scene... your gonna jump at the chance to pick up guys like Van Wyk, Wagner, Brownlie & Elliot.

I'd say he will retire after the SA Test series unless he has a great series which encourages him to keep going, there is enough good young quicks around now for us to use.

I really want to go for the Proteas tour.

I have been trying to organise which ODIs here to go to with a few of my SAfrican friends and there is only 2 one which clashes with soundwave. So I said how about we just cross the Tasman for the Proteas tour of New Zealand instead, I was joking at first, but I got a response which was half encouraging, so from there I had one foot on the plane.

It should work out well that Martin will retire and Wagner will slot into his spot in the lineup. And bring considerbly better batting with it!

If you like grass hills to watch Test Cricket on then you are doubly in luck.

Better the Basin than a 40 000 seat ground with less than 5k in though.

Otago seems pretty park cricket like, the other grounds are perfectly reasonable test venues.

Mind you I wish there was still test matches in Christchurch, wouldnt have to worry about accomodation then either

Yeah I like all our Test Venues atm, the Basin on the weekend when the hill is packed is perfect for Test Cricket here. Much better than playing games at Eden Park for example.

Gotta love the Zimbo's & their exotic names..

I mean who names their kid Ray Price??..:p:p

I'd prefer to see Waitling trialled at keeper. He's young and shows promise with the bat. I'd rather have a specialist keeper who can bat, but I suppose you have to make do with what you have.

the whole keeping issue is the biggest example of how geniused NZ cricket is...

McCullum should be keeping...

it gives us the option of bringing in a much needed extra batsman and bowler.

who gives a f**k what McCullum wants... when he starts averaging over 40 with the bat then we can start considering him as a batsman...

I do agree with that Shiznit. Classic case of the tail wagging the dog. In saying that, I don't know the extent of his injury...if it is an injury which could cut short his career, then I don't mind him forgoing the gloves so much, providing he can earn his place with the bat. It's a shame though- probably the best keeper we've had.
