Watling doing well... might be a good selection in the long run, he definitely can keep, so more time behind the stumps and he'll be the long term option

I am still tring to work out WTF McCullum was doing when Williamson was run out

Is anybody listening to Waddle on Radio Sport commentary? He normally goes ok, but he's off his head today. He's suggesting that not out's should be regarded as out in calculating averages- e.g Bradman's average would be 86 instead of 99, on account of his unbeaten innings. Just bizarrely mental dribble.

I've heard him making that argument before, just non-sensical, batsmen have two responsibilities, score runs and not be dismissed!

Averages are flawed, median score would probably be a better representation... but maybe he's had a few too many drinks before lunch

Nice 50 from Watling, gotta get runs out of your keeper so it's a handy start from him. These bowlers are plodders though, Vitori looks like he can barely make the run up.

Bracewell and Southee hopefully to develop their batting, both need to get out of the 4 or nothing mindset though.

Ross Taylor has been sidelined for three to four weeks after picking up a calf strain this morning in Napier. Taylor will miss the rest of the Zimbabwe series and is hoping to be fit for the home one-dayers against South Africa in late February.

Good contribution from Southee in the context of this game. Hopefully Boult can stick with Waitling long enough for him to get 100- but we can declare any time now

For the sake of drama, I'd love Boult to get out with Waitling needing to get a few runs with Martin.
