Only Women's Ashes test

I know there probably isn't much interest in this, but Australia are doing quite well. Aaand this may be a chance to see Australia beat England in an Ashes test - even if it is just women.

England are 181/8 at the close of the first day
here's a full scorecard so far
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/474625.html

It is a four day test at Bankstown Oval. Entry is free, so I encourage anyone close enough to come attend. I was only there for the end of the day (because I had to play my own game today) and I must say I was quite disappointed in the crowd, even for a women's match

I will ask them, because I wonder what claim they have to calling them the Ashes too, particularly when there is only one game. IF they don't have an urn, I will burn some bails for them tomorrow, so they can have some too and it can be a quirkier version

181/8 and the captain Charlotte Edwards was 103 no.

Why can't the Australian mens' team get a captain's knock like that? Michael Clarke, Ricky Ponting - looking at you!

also funny how the women can bowl 105 overs in a day's play and the men often fail to bowl the 90 over quota

Shorter run ups id say,

and far less executive meetings in between deliveries between captain , bowler and another bowler sticking his nose in giving advice (eg punter, siddle and notch)

Yeah good point.

Just like I remember when I played Junior Cricket we could bowl our 30 overs in an hour and a half.

England all out 207
Charlotte Edwards 114*
Only 2 others got double figures
Jenny Gunn 33 and Holly Colvin 15

I found that their runups are about the same, but they move very quickly between the overs. You would not be able to fit a whole ad in between. However, I kind of feel that they take more time between deliveries than between overs. Oh and no executive meetings in between of course. Teams appear to have plans before they come out there. They are also ready to bat ridiculously quickly. Aussie girls came off the field and they (openers, as well as first and second drop) took less than a minute to be padded up and practising shots on the field

Good to see Farrell do well, St George juniors represent :D I don't think girls can play beyond the under 14's right? She was better than just about everyone else in juniors and seniors which is a shame that rule exists. St George should have an international team just quietly.
