Ordinary Performance

Personally I didn't think we were that great.

Robbie had a great start to the game but he didn't go on with it. Benji was quite. The overall performance was pretty average unlike the last couple of weeks.

In saying that we won easily so that is good to see.

They were Rubbish, Utai must be flicked he is a massive liability. They were playing a team that had all their guns on the side lines and struggled for the whole game, the score did not reflect the game. What did the do at Kiama durring the week, play cards???? Turn up anywhere near that next week and Parra will spank them

I wouldn't go that far. It wasn't a good performance but we won so I don't really care. We have played great the last couple of weeks - an off game was due.

Have to say we got some unlucky calls and some lucky calls. The unlucky calls meant that we really needed the lucky calls to get us home in the end. We should have won that game by 24+...

Just once in my life I would like to see the Wests Tigers keep a team to zero.

Old saying: "win by one, is better than losing by one", or something like that?
But I agree, we had their balls between our teeth, & we didn't rip them out? :lol:

Better to learn from a win like that with plenty to improve on than lose, 5 in a row let's not lose sight of the goal 6th place and our best team on park by finals

Maybe the game we needed to re focus on what is required to be a force in 2011. One things for certain we will not keep winning while Utai is on one wing and we have poor old Toddy struggling off the bench. Without lawrence our backline just has no punch at all. They are going to have to come up with a new game plan till he is back on deck

Yeah lots of ppl like above only see the score, not how the team plays or how the game panned out.
I think once they saw the early holes in the panthers defense we went for the glory play all too early, rather than trying to create and apply pressure....tooo much sidelne sideline crap and kicking early, no respect to the opposition.
One intercept try, one lucky one with a clear knock on the Ayshford and theres nothing in this game with all their guns out
A for Average

Too many pointless kicks with low odds of success.
Good defence.
Awful hands from Utai - he should be gone next week when Lote is back.
Imagine if Lawrence had been playing...
Mitch Brown was very good, like he was last year. Should always be in the 17.
Big improvement from Moltzen - why the hell didn't he play like that earlier in the season?
Forwards were good, except for a few loose carries from Galloway.

I think they started so well and worked out that they were home very early on and that's when they fell away quality wise.
Looking at the performance overall, I feel that maybe Woods hasn't gone on with the potential that he showed early on. Thought Groat offered way more off the bench.
I know Fifita has been ordinary of late but I still prefer him as a prop off the bench

Thought we went well, ordinarily we are bad favourites and tonight we stood up and delivered where we have been lacking. We may not have scored the points early, but we applied pressure which led to a quick avalanche later on.

Penrith were understaffed, and crap at times, but we got the 2 points against a team that has so often been our bogey. Would be happy if we finish 5th at best, safest for obvious reasons, but we can beat broncos/cowboys/dragons. Any lower and it's virtually impossible to win the comp.

We need Lawrence back asap, Lote's experience will assist greatly too.

Keep rolling on boys.

We have been 'up' for quite a while now with some enormous wins, but this 9 day break until we Parramatta next week is a blessing. We will now have time to take stock, recover and plan our way into the semis.

I want this deluxe.

We will not beat Parra if we dish out another effort like that, but a week is a long time in football. Last night if they kept it simple played direct and attacked them on the edge of the ruck they would have racked up a cricket score. No they decided to go from side to side and fancy little kicks on early tackles. It was a very lazy effort. Considering the side the Penny's ran out it was right up their with our poor efforts in 2011. A month out from the semi finals you want the worm to be slowly going up not falling fast

It was a poor, mentally disengaged performance from the team. But as Bubbles said they have been up for a while and to win the game while falling off mentally has its merits.

Compare this to us decimating the Gold Coast for 15 minutes than switching off and getting rolled by that dross.

I'd had a long lunch so watched the game pretty lit but our attitude and intensity in defence was very good. Yes they were missing their best players but our line speed was as good as it's been against a still very strong forward pack and in the end they scored two tries off kicks and one in the 80th minute.

The lackadaisical attitude with the ball on the other hand was worrying - started very strongly but dropped off after 20, when KG and Gibbs went for a stint. Too many dropped balls and our outside backs at times seemed to have trained with different inside men such was their play. But in the end I thought:

- our defence was very strong - a consistent and pleasing theme after several years of indifference in this regard;
- our kicking game overall was much improved - where it needs to be come semi-final time;
- we created plenty of opportunities but lacked the class out wide to capitalise - need Rowdy & Lote back asap;
- is Robbie finally fully fit? Here's hoping cause the difference he made last night was telling.

I'm fairly optimistic. We definitely switched off against a clearly inferior team but as others have said, we've been up for a while and it would have been easy to win (or lose) a low scoring slug-fest which would have raised more questions. 9 days til the next game should give the boys a good chance to rest up and regroup.

I guess in many ways last nights win against the Panthers was an ordinary performance but the Tigers are notorious for doing that against teams lower than them on the table.

They lifted for those huge games against Manly and the Dragons but with their run home, while easy on paper, I think they will continue to win but lower themselves to the level of their opposition. They just seem to get the business done.

Earlier in the season when the internal turmoil (or whatever it was) seemed to be adversely affecting the team, they could have lost this type of game. When you think we lost to the Dogs twice, the Rooster, Titans, Souths and Eels they don't lift for teams below them on the table.

We are now hoping to finish on 34 points and I can't see why we can't with the Eels, Titans and Shark to come but had we won perhaps three of those earlier losses we would now be talking about finishing with a solid top four position.

I just wish we could learn to put to the sword lesser teams by building pressure and not trying to go for the million dollar play every time. I know last night some of the grubbers into the in goal got us a reapeat set but I have also seen Slater run 100 metres off them as well.

Still all seems good and a win is a win as they say, especially against a boogie side like the Panthers.

Im still of the impression that the Tigers play to match the level of their opponents. We're as good as Melbourne and as bad as the Titans.
