Have the times changed that much so quickly??? Only a few seasons ago Brett Kimmorley paraded himself around to a number of NRL clubs chasing his signature. He was lambasted for it, and rightly so. Supporters get tired of reading in the media that players are going to this club one day and another club the next.

Season 2005. It seems quite common practice for "marquee" players to parade themselves to all and sundry about what they are thinking. Every detail of negotiation seems to be reported.

Is this a part of Rugby League that the supporter MUST now accept as part of the game??

I don't believe that messrs Orford, Anansta and now Ross have copped the same flak as Kimmorley did previously.

Thoughts????

Anasta wasn't so bad as he did have State of Origin and he did say he will make his mind up the week after Origin and he came back from NZ and he has.

The other two have big decisions to make as they do involve the potential of moving interstate. But Orford more then Ross seems to painting himself in a mercenary light.

Orford is doing exactly the same as Kimmorley. He's shopping around to get himself and his family the best deal.

Surprise Surprise though, I haven't heard one person criticise him like they have Noddy.

Looks like people just hate Noddy for the sake of hating him then. That or there's a hell of a lot of hypocrites running around.

meh - get over it. it's a professional game in which these guys have a very limited lifespan. They should squeeze every cent they can out of it, because most of them are about as useful as tits on a bull outside of football

Then you have never been to the Storm forum.

Many other fans have also said the same thing.

Maybe you choose to not read them.

What a knob Orford is. If he wants to play on the Central Coast he should go play Jim Beam cup with Asquith or Belrose.

In his mind I bet he thinks Souths might actually consider moving up there just to sign him up too.

Wake up Orford you tosser. This is the NRL, a club is not going to move itself from its heartland to sign you for the 5 or so years you have left as a footballer.

Even you 'ave a go at him.

I'm sure that some of the people in this thread who have been critical of Orford all settle for lower paid positions with the same employer as they believe in showing loyalty and never looking out for a better position for themselves. If any of us were put in the same position with the figures these guys are on we'd be like kids in a candy shop wanting a piece of everything, lets not judge players for standands very few of us would live up to in our own lives.

As for time taken, yes it's frustrating as a fan but these guys sign for 2-3 years or more in some cases, thats a huge chunk of your life and a huge salary to go with it and in most cases a complete move to a foreign city, it's not something you decide to do in a week or two.

BTW, loyalty also goes both ways, we're quite happy to bag players for lack of loyalty but just how often do the clubs that we support show that same loyalty to their players? Let him take as much as they can get while they're at the top because one day your playing first grade the next your without a contract and a career.
