Hird and the club are concerned the involvement of the AFL in hearings and a leak of material provided to investigators may have "polluted" the case.

The AFL described the concerns as a "contrived argument".

Interesting the change in tone from the AFL. They seem to be creating a distance from Essendon and Hird. Wonder if Nrl will do same with sharks if they look guilty?

Not sure what Hird/Essendon are concerned about. The AFL and ASADA are the only ones that matter at the end of the day. It's not like they are seeking to find an impartial jury from the public with which the try the case.

Besides sending Bruno in what have the NRL done to support Cronulla through this whole fiasco???

So is that why the new board gave the NRL the bird & reinstated Noakes? Nothing much to lose?

I don't see it a smart move but maybe you do?

They put in a top CEO and paid for him and offered financial support (allegedly) if they get sued. They have also not sht on them which they could have done if they so wished. Not sure what more you expect them to have done?

f**ked if I know. I was simply replying to Perth Red's post.

Smith has played with a straight bat and stated the NRL will cooperate with ASADA. That's been the stock, standard line and the general public will have seen little other support in the media by the NRL for the Sharks.

Do you think that's a fair statement or have I missed a fair chunk of public support for the Sharks players and club from the NRL the past 6 months???

Already said that.

Never said the NRL had shit on them.

Never said I expected the NRL to do anything more.

I asked besides sending Cullen in what have the NRL done to support the Sharks? There may have been a hundred things they have done but I have not seen it pushed through the media or by the Sharks club.

Smith has stated that the process must be allowed to take it's course and that was the most important thing here. No more, no less.

So, you asked will the NRL distance themselves from Cronulla if they look guilty?
Do you believe they have been publicly supportive of them over the past six months?

Nothing more than I have stated, and nor should they.

Though there is a rumour they have a plan to help cronulla build a new squad for next season if they lose all the players to bans.

Putting aside the right and wrongs of being sued - Would the Directors of Cronulla or the club itself not have insurance?
