You're not the only one El D

Surely he has to accept responsibility for what occurred on his watch?
I can't see why the club is so supportive of his poor governance or, great lack thereof of any governance. He obviously wasn't the only one involved but most organisations would distance themselves?
If it was any other business, he would be marched immediately and the club show remorse for his 'unknown actions/activities'
Does this mean the club knew of what was going on and aren't prepared to sack Flanno in case he sings like a canary?
I'm sceptical Millers....

The club is so supportive of him, because thats how the directors were voted in. Unfortunately, most casual Sharks fans think he is/we are being victimised and "what about Manly, they had Dank for years!"

The best thing for the club and the game would be to cop it sweet, change what needs to be changed and move on.

Thanks Frailty...do you think the previous admin knew what was going on? Or is that the $64m question?
It would appear the club has been handed it's sentence with a fine from the NRL but can ASADA also penalise the club also or just players?
I may have made the odd negative comment towards the scummers over the years, maybe 3 or 4, ok....no more than 50,....this month but in all seriousness, I would have been very, very nervous about this whole deal but my anger or frustration would have been aimed at club hierarchy for allowing this.

Mate, I can absolutely categorically confirm 100% that the previous Board had zero knowledge of what was happening.

I can also confirm that the Club's official supplement records were kept up to date and stored safely.

I can also confirm that Flanagan stopped the injections - not the program which went on for a further 4-6 weeks.

The only perspective I can gauge is that if Flanagan admits guilt it opens him up from a legal position.

Yes I'd say that's right. Possibly why the Board hasn't dumped on him as well. Sometimes it's not what you know that matters. It's what your opponents know. If in doubt, deny. If they can prove it, go ahead and try...

I have complete confidence that the prior board didn't know what was going on. Simply based on the fact that when they found out, they took action (internal report and standing down Flanno and the other staff). I do believe they should have had much better governance structures in place, but to put it into perspective - they came in with the club virtually done for and came in got the development across the line and eradicated $10M of debt. I think they were too preoccupied with these issues.

I can also confirm that the Club's official supplement records were kept up to date and stored safely.

Is it possible that these substances, that the NRL claims they don't know, were not kept on this record?

Exactly right Frailty. What has taken place is that a few employees have worked outside of the Clubs systems, structures and processes.

The official supplement program was overseen by Dr Givney - everything from an official Club perspective is 100% above board.

On that basis it is the exact reason that the Club CANNOT be guilty of systematic doping as first reported.

Something else I wish to add, in terms of governance, the Club's business model was to split the Leagues Club and Football Club in two. The Board were focused on getting the Development approved while Flanagan and Mooney were responsible for the Football aspect of the business.

Despite the protests, Flanagan was very happy with this arrangement and the Board trusted his better judgement in terms of Football operations.

Fiz and Frailty, what do you know about what the ex Cronulla trainer and what he told the joint Cronulla/ASADA investigation back in April '13. According to Masters in the SMH he told them a lot and in some detail. This has to be proven though.

Why are the scummers supporters so divided on this? Over at the Tinfoil hat forum, there are some amusing opinions on whether Flanagan should be removed and others saying the NRL should be taken to court...or even, get this, ..... Smith should be jailed as he is in possession of important information
Of course he is, he's the head of the NRL.
Would it not be prudent of the NRL to have conducted a thorough and exhaustive investigation and then sought legal opinion on the actions taken before issuing fines or suspension were imposed?
Flanagan was in charge when this happens and if as I am told, the club was unaware of this, then he needs to grow up and accept responsibilty.....unless there is more to it that may expose others ?

If Flanagan takes it to the supreme court like he is threatening to do this will be in the headlines all year.

If Flanagan drags the game through the mud for months and months and loses his sentence should be extended. He got off lightly IMO.

And we haven't even gotten to when or if players start copping bans.
